Hi! The Lewis' got here on Wednesday right on time! However, getting out of the airport was a major fiasco---no surprise there. But we got back here without any incident and got them settled in to the cramped quarters! They were very exhausted from the trip down not to mention losing 3 hours as well! Brenda managed to bring only 5 pair of shoes and more clothing than I brought for the entire winter! But that is good for her. She usually brings about 13 pairs of shoes for a week's stay. We really have not done a lot other than [View Full Entry]

Painting is done!

Saludos, to my faithful bloggers! Today our painter started at 8 am and worked steadily until about 4 pm. His name is Rogelio and comes with great recommendations and seems to be a nice guy. He was supposed to start yesterday, but his wife had an appendectomy and is in the hospital. He does not have a car and walked about a mile or so to get here. His wife will be hospitalized until at least Thursday. She works as a chef at the Palmas Hotel here. The sting rays continue to flap in the water today. No boating for me.... [View Full Entry]

Today we went to an Easter Sunrise Service here on the beach. It was bilingual and very low-key and presented by the Mission church called La Vida Nueva. We really enjoyed it and were glad that we attended---5.30 AM! Everyone gathered with his/her own chairs and the service began wiht candlelight and then lots of songs followed by a nice sermon by the pastor. An offering was NOT even passed! Impressive! The service was over in about an hour. Getting up that early makes for a long day. Mike chose to go back to sleep for a few hours but I [View Full Entry]

Today, Thursday, a group of gals got together to do some mosaics. Lois had gotten a hold of a bunch of small ceramic pieces at a garage sale so we all pitched in to cover the cost and came up with our own thing to make the mosaic on. I had this table that I got on a "trade" for some bunk beds that were in my camper. I sanded and painted it and then decided to make the mosaic on that. I think that I may have gotten in over my head b/c it will take awhile to make. Then [View Full Entry]

It has been awhile since my last entry. We have been pretty busy getting things settled in and then preparing for Michael's visit with his girlfriend, Rachael. They had spent 4 days in Cabo San Lucas and fortunately the wind stayed low for their stay there. We, too, enjoyed warm, wind free weather for about 4 days and then the big blow came in. The weather here, like most of the US, has been very indifferent. Usually the wind dies right down in March, but the kiters are happy. We managed to finally get our sensor light functioning but it is [View Full Entry]

It is official....the construction is DONE!!! We are thrilled that the 35 days of dust and cement work is OVER! We are very happy with the work that Isidro has done. We really grew fond of him and his crew and had a lot of fun with him. Mike especially enjoyed teaching him how to say swear words in English. We have had no takers on painting so far, so I think we are just going to paint the bodega ourselves and just let the rest wait til next year. Michael is in Cabo until Sunday and we will pick him [View Full Entry]

Things are winding down now. As I type this today at about noonish, Isidro is making the forms for the railing coming down the stairway. The palo de arco sticks are almost done along the railing up on the deck. The guy cuts a few, then screws them in. Again, it would seem to me that one would cut them all, then proceed with the attachment---but WAIT!! THAT would be logical! Mike is power washing the bodega and hopes to at least get that painted. We had an estimate from one of Isidro’s “friends” to complete all of the painting and [View Full Entry]

Not much excitement around here after the fox incident. It has been very windy too! We were to go out on little coastal tour on Thursday morning for the day and got out on the boat and headed north. As the tide came in, the wind blew up and the waves got really rough so the captain decided that we should not continue on and we headed back to shore. It was kind of disappointing but at the same it was not a pleasant ride so it was good to get back on land! After that, we came back and continued [View Full Entry]

Another day in the Baja..............Gorgeous today. Saw a whale in the bay here so that was pretty cool. Yesterday I went to the vegetable and fruit market down at the neighboring RV park. Since I was early, the couple that does the market were still setting up the table and the scale. As the gal put up the scale, the indicator showed at 2 instead of 0. One of the guys waiting in line said, "Well, there you go. Two is the Baja zero!" Lots of laughs out of that one! They boys worked Saturday and finally got the sombra finished--well [View Full Entry]

Finally the wind has died down today and it was very warm!! I was able to get out and kayak again this morning but failed to see any marine life other than some flying fish! And the "aguas males" or jelly fish are beginning to make their appearance in the water! I never saw any at all last year but I guess that they can be rather bothersome. Not much work was completed today.........it really does get frustrating. Today the excuse was that Isidro "forgot" his charger for his drill and was unable to complete the skirting around the trailer. Mike's [View Full Entry]
