I live in chicago and I was also born in Chicago. My family and I are Catholic and both of my parents are from Mexico. I would like to travel around the world once I am older because I think it's amazing how other countries are different from the United States. I think I just like the idea that I will be able to see the world from my own eyes, and then say that event in my own words. I also like to paint and draw a lot. I am also into sports because I am so hyper that sports are probably the only solution to use up my hyperness.

Dear RIHlA, Since I am going off into another stage in my life, I think I have decided to join a few clubs and or activites. Some of these activities include sports. I think I want to join the soccer team because I know that I would enjoy it as much as I do in high school. I find soccer to be a stress reliever, and a way to be in good shape. I also have considered joining the ROTC. I thought of joining in high school, but my mind kept slipping. Now that I plan on becoming a Navy Nurse, I think it would be a good idea of what I am getting myself into.... read more

Dear RIHLA, center; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;" dir="ltr"> /center; margin-top: 0pt; margin-bottom: 0pt;" dir="ltr"> At first, my belief was revenge. Every time someone did something to me, I would get back at them. This made all the boys fear me.I grew up with an older brother and older sister, making me the one to be influenced the most. I became immune to my brother’s punches and harsh ways; I grew attached to them. I soon found myself looking a lot like my brother. Not that I blame him, he had it hard when he was small. I really hate restating the things that happened to him when he was eight years old. He was scarred for life after that moment. Usually when something horrible happens to someone, they feel like a prey, very weak. This was ... read more

Dear RIHLA, Modern day slavery is different from earlier forms of slavery because of the way that slavery is illegal but no one is doing anything to help the ones in need of escaping the slavery. The way that it is different is that there are over a million people in slavery, mostly the ones who are to be porstitues against their own will. The sex trafficking connects to the legacy of President Lincoln because he tried, and did, end slavery. There are many people today trying to end the sex traffic. There are people helping those who are victims to mofern slavery by getting tem help after they are freed from the sex traffic. The Polaris project is to help people escape from their pimps that are forcing them to become prostitues or making them ... read more

Dear RIHLA, I would like to talk about the recipe Chile Relleno. Which includes Chile that originated from the Americas. This recipe origniated from Mexico from the city of Puebla. My family, on occations would make this dish, but not always. I think we prefer Enchiladas because they are less spicey. But we do make this dish because of the taste it gives off. I think people should have that access to tmany different foods because it would teach many people that there is not only one simple dish. Over time, dishes change because cultures change it. Sucha as the chinese rise, it did not have the shrimp in. The original dish is just rice, nothing more. I think it would give the people at opportunity to learn more about the other countries and how they ... read more

Dear RIHLA, I think many schools ban certain books because they are afraid that students will think the wrong thing once they read the book. It is very common for schools to do the right thing and protect the students from reading certian topics that could change teh way they see or think of certain topics such as racism, ethnicity, and so on. I completely disagree with banning books. I disagree because it all depends on the way a teacher explains the book and how the book can be used as an example on what not to do. At many times, teachers didn't want to let their students read Huckleberry Finn because of the N word. This is a very bad word I know but it all depends on the teachers way of explaining the crualty ... read more

Dear RIHLA, Interviewee: Salvador Alvarez Relationship: Dad Decade: Starting a family Environment: By this time, my parents were living in CHicago in an old apartment. Dear RIHLA, I do believe that Castiglione's of what men should act like is really true. Now a days, men don't really care about what women are. They just care about the looks and if she's willing to do what he tells her to do. Castiglione describes men as being more like a women, somewhat. How many men do you think love art and teh fancy music, very few or none at all. But even though men should have a feminine side, he said to look at women only for their looks. Some encouragment he gave. Castiglione probably thought that men should act like this to seem more mature to women. Maybe he thought it would make men look like they could care less about what women thought about them as long as they actually got ... read more

Dear RIHLA, The mountain that I have climbed was succeeding all the way through high school without failing. This is important to me because I have had bad influences as a child. My brother failed at more than two different high schools, and he never finished high school. My sister didn't succeed in high school either, she almost didn't graduate because she was failing one subject. Not to mention the fact that both of my older siblings are struggling to survive in life. However, I pushed myself and made a promise to not go down that rode, and so far, I have received better grades that neither of my siblings could have ever reached. The mountain that stands before me is actually a test. I have been very lazy and I also discovered something about myself ... read more

Dear RIHLA, The most interseting part about history is just learning more about other countries. I loved learning about Persia and also the mideival area. I found the clothing mosre interesting, the way women dressed in places like Persia and even in Europe. I think this interested me the most because the life styles in the past made a new impression as to why people dressed like they did and why women rebelled after living in a prison like world. The most challanging part of history was trying memorize everything, and how to memorize it for the tests. I think this was the hardest since I felt like I had to do better on these tests because I was in honors. I think being in Honors was a challange since it was my fisrt honors class. ... read more
