Todays target: Zugspitze! Yesterday we tried to figure out which one of the mountains was Zugspitze, the highest point in Germany. Today we decided to be sure to see it and after an enormous breakfast (again!) we made plans to drive to Eibsee, where it is said to be the best view of Zugspitze. Eibsee is a mountain lake about 9 km southwest from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The lake is over 3 km long, about 560 meters wide and in average 12 meters deep. At deepest it is 35,4 meters! The water is clear and has a beautiful light blue [View Full Entry]

Hello! June 15, 2007 a group of four exchange students of Technische Universität Darmstadt (3 Finns & 1 American) rented a car and drove down to southern Germany to spend a long weekend near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Now after visiting the place I can tell it is a great place to spend a summer holiday - especially if you like outdoors activities like hiking, biking, swimming or mountaining climb. It takes about 4-5 hours to drive down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen from Darmstadt. We stayed on autobahns and trusted our way to the Navigator. "She" said to follow first the autobahn A5, then [View Full Entry]

Hello Finland! I am back to my home land for a 4-day visit. Such a great feeling to come back home, even though it is a quick visit!! I spent every day in a different location and had a busy schedule in order to see everyone. Such a great visit! I got to enjoy my goddaughter's 18-month "birthday" party, spent a relaxing day at our summer cottage in Haapasaari, got together with friends in Lappeenranta, Kouvola and Vantaa, visited my grandma and just spend good time with my family. Here's some pictures from the trip!! [View Full Entry]

Marburg, Germany Assi Visamo Hello! On Saturday May 26th I travelled with my friend Will to Marburg, about 1 hour North from Frankfurt Am Main by train. The city of Marburg is located by the Lahn River and is a beautiful German city with traditional German buildings and walking paths. "Other cities have a university, Marburg is a university" as the saying of Marburg goes. Quoting the city web site "The Phillipps-University in Marburg is very old, founded in 1529, and has about [View Full Entry]

Last day in Paris! Unfortunately we had to start out with looking for RER train Lost and Found department. One of us had lost his camera and we hoped some honest Parisian had found it and returned to Lost and Found. No luck! :( The day wasn't very pretty but it wasn't raining either. We wanted to see the gorgeous palace of Versailles before travelling back home. So, we took again a RER train and traveled about 45 minutes out of Paris. The gardens of Versailles were magnificent. Unfortunately the water fountains were not running when we visited the place [View Full Entry]

The next day it rained! Louvre - here we come! Louvre may be the biggest museums I have ever visited. We spent there about 4-5 hours and went through only 1/3 of one section. And there are 3 sections! The real Mona Lisa was the highlight of the day!!! Unfortunately I have no picture of the event because it was highly prohibited to take photos or videos of Mona Lisa. :( Louvre took us about half of the day. After Louvre we decided to go to the Montmartre Hill to see the famous Sacré Coeur church. Montmartre is the highest point [View Full Entry]
