Hello friends, As you can see I am still here. As I am not currently traveling, I thought an entry in a TRAVEL blog might be rejected by the website, but I've had a request so I thought I'd risk it. Still kippping at Gran's, if you don't know where teignmouth is google it! Nice location, right on the sea (bit too cold to swim now though) and in the middle of a little town full of fish and chips shops and charity clothing shops, which is fitting for a girl with 3 outfits and little money. Have managed to accumulate [View Full Entry]

Hello friends. When last we spoke, I was in the lovely town of Salzburg. Funny place, if you were a local you would go crazy, you can't go 10 minutes without some puffed up tourist breaking into song. Some better than others. Took a couple days off, so to speak. Enjoyed a nice dinner and glass of wine by myself. I think the waiting staff was confused, or thought I had been stood up, because it took them an hour and a half to ask for my order. Austrian food = gives greek food a run for its money. Not a [View Full Entry]

hello all, just arrived in salzburg, think it has something to do with julie andrews because i keep seeing expensive sound of music tour offers. To get me in the mood i listened to do re mi on the train on repeat. Was sad to leave budapest, maybe the most fascinating city I have visited thus far, complete with turkish baths which I unfortunately arrived at too late to take a dip, castles, bridges, fountains, underground bars and dance floors, goulash, and good lord thousands of hippies. highlights include, 1. eating half of an innocent looking green pepper in my goulash [View Full Entry]

How to speak german Europe » Switzerland » North-West » Basel
Thought it was time I gave a simple lesson to all those US bound. How to speak german: 1. Add -en to the end of every word. (dimitris was right fish!) e.g. to walk = laufen food = essen downstairs = unten every other word = blank-en 2. do not attempt to pick up words from 4 and 6 year old children, they are not confirming words for you when you point and they nod, they are just excited and cant stop moving their heads. 3. practice your ich sound. it is not ish and it is not the throaty sound [View Full Entry]

So hello friends, it has been too long. Apologies about any z or y mix ups, although not as bad as french keyboards swiss keyboards leave something to be desired. So gosh, what has happened? Thought I would leave you in suspense for a while.. guess its been almost two weeks. lets make a list. 1. said bye to ben and hopped on a ferry to france, enjoyed a delicious pasty on the way, was watched the entire time by a giant seagull, thought he was going to maim me but I made it. Made a random choice and got a [View Full Entry]

Cheerio fish Europe » United Kingdom » England » Surrey » Epsom
It's been a while, folks. Much has happened. I am sad to say that Laura has returned to her country, and I remain in England, applying to med school and watching the rain drip down the office windows. Laura last wrote in Prague, let's see what I can do. 1. Rode bikes around Prague. until we came to a large hill. lined with restaurants. Czech food = doughy and delicious. Was excited that Laura would also have to buy new sunglasses but she had merely put them in another restaurant for safe keeping. 2. Feel it's necessary to mention our train [View Full Entry]

Γεια σας, φιλος! (that says hello friends) The thing is that greek has a different alphabet. It took me a few days to be able to (kind of ) sound out words from the ridiculous letters. By then you have forgotten it is also a different language and you are confused as to why the word you have successfully deciphered means nothing to you. Exciting moments included reading signs for city names, which we can understand. Lists work well for me so... 1. stayed in corfu for a day and a half. our couch surfing host number didn't [View Full Entry]

not sure these were here when domitian ruled...
Ciao again. It is very late at night here so if I skip anything important (which I am sure I will ) I am sorry. It might be easier to update you all in a few highlights. 1. Laura and I are getting worse at english every day. staying with and talking with non native english speakers causing a certain simplification of our sentences and an over pronunciation of hard words. Instead of, do you wanna go to the store? we now say, we will go to the store now? 2. Italian food wins all of europe. (so far). in fact [View Full Entry]

our wonderful hosts in milan
Ciao everyone! Yesterday we arrived in Florence, the city of renaissance. Checked into the appropriately named emerald palace. Watched the end of the sunset from across the river over the city, verrry nice. Under a good friends specific instructions, we searched the city for the gato e la volpe, apparently the best italian restaurant in the city, and enjoyed tortellini, ravioli, and a bottle of chianti. Did a little exploring with some new friends, to begin our quest to try every gelato flavor in italy. Approve of; pistachio, tiramisu, hazelnut, and berry. Today we awoke bright and earl [View Full Entry]
