After lounging around in the sunshine whilst waiting for my Vietnam visa i decided to hit Cambodia and meet up with kerry and simon whom id met in Beijing and are working at a small orphanage in siem reap. the scam....so i was sold a dodgy bus ticket which said id be in siem reap the next day at midday, an over night bus to pakse in the south an it was 8am already and apparently i had no valid onward ticket, the bastards! so i could either spend a further two days on an all seater bus or just fly, [View Full Entry]

or as some guy described it to me, Disneyland for alcoholics. We (the international team) arrived at Vang vieng after a very long bus journey and decided to have our customary beer before we found a place to stay the first bucket washed down some crappy western food, wed see this menu again a few times before we left, almost every bar/restaurant has exactly the same menu! s the first bucket was vodka and red bull, well lipovitine which is a Japanese pharmaceutical version about a million times as strong as the British version + the fact the measurements are 50/50 [View Full Entry]

the international team unite! more on that story later first lets go to finance so for 35bucks you get a visa for laos at the airport which was ideal as i hadnt arranged one due to the fact before i left i had never even heard of the place let alone knew where it was and wanted to go there. because of this though i had a great time, the lack of guide book and a clue for that matter i decided just to go up to some random people and see where they were staying and maybe catch a ride [View Full Entry]

So a whole night in kuala lumpur airport, with its new bazillion dollar terminal that would hav been great but ofcourse travelling as a er traveller you fly airasia which has its own terminal resembling a huge empty warehouse with a couple plastic seats. great. flying in all you see is a house every now and then dotted between thousands of plantation palm trees, even continuing on the incredibly long bus from the airport to the main station they keep goig until bam apartment blocks and sky scrapers hit you like a brick wall. arriving in the city was strange its [View Full Entry]

strangely cool border city too hk, although city itself is a little grubby and apparently theyve had some problems withhe triads (awesome some people to drink with!) the suburbs are nice + im staying in a hostel right in the middle of the trendy upmarket art scene. After a decent flight and by far the best service and plane food iv ever had, thanks air china, got to shenzhen slightly disheatend that i would be stuck in this place which all the book has to say is that it borders hk and is where the entire worlds ipods/mac books are made. This was one crazy hard climb, 10hours over 2 days and 40km almost straight up with a stay in a monastery in between. At 3000m on he golden summit watching the sunrise nothing would have stopped me getting there. so after 3hours on a bus and a night in the crappiest hotel on earth called teddy bear hotel, i must have killed 40 nah 50 mozzys before i had even had chance to take my bag off my back! then after a bus journey to the nearest station to the mountain i opted to walk up for about 40mins to the [View Full Entry]

wooop wooop made it here after a stressfull wait for the train and then two long loooooong days on a train. its the highest train journey in the world at one point reaching 4000m above sea level. each morning i awoke to the sight of a different mountain range and shed loads of snow!! although we did keep zipping in and out of tunnels which meant for less photos but i guess its why it takes two days not two weeks! due to my stupidity i didnt pack any food for the trip so train food was on the menu, i [View Full Entry]

the wierdest place i have been, the city is like th twilight zone even the panda research base supposedly at the pinicle of animal breeding by getting animals too lazy to do it to have babys but the place looked like jurassic park after it had been abandoned and left for the dinosaors, still it was better than the animals being locked up like they were in beijing. After half an hour bus drive from the train station i arrived at the ''hostel'' which turned out to actually be just a hotel with dorm rooms in, not exactly what i was [View Full Entry]
