Bonsoir, I have decided that my time in France is coming to an end. I am flying home this week, on the 21st. My flight is Zoom flight number 447, and leaves at 10:55 Paris time, and arrives at 1:50pm in Vancouver. The rest of my time in France is being spent in Paris. Good night... read more

As I Rise
June 7th 2007

Tonight I am in the city of Tours. I managed to cover the distance between Blois, and here in one day. With my backpack on, I think that it is quite the feat. Needless to say, I am sore, and I will be taking a day off to rest. I'm getting a bit tired of camping. My tent has started to leak, the ground seems to be getting harder, and the bugs are everywhere. Anyways, I am seeing plenty of chateau (castles that kings built when they lived here), and cathedrals. I look forward to uploading pictures. I probably only have a couple more days in the Loire Valley. I think that when I am done with the Loire, I'll head to the south of France. Once again, I do have to thank the Wiebes, for ... read more

The past few nights I have been staying with the Wiebes, who have graciously let me stay with them in their gite in La Charite. They are currently rennovating their place in La Charite, so I lent a hand for a couple days. Me and Dane dug out the floor of the câve below their house, where their wine cellar will be. When I mentioned that I was planning to bike the Loire, Len said that he could lend me his bike for the trip. So I bought a small one man tent and I am making my way down the river. The Tent turned out to be the cheap kind, and I have to hold the door shut with paper clips. Right now I am set up for my second night, and in keeping ... read more

I am currently on the train, en-route to Dijon. I have my hostel booked, and all is well. I have started to read Hugo's 'Les Misérables,' with the help of my French-English dictionary. I figure that after I get through the first few hundred pages, the rest will be easy, and I'll have a better understanding of the language. I may have to get a new dictionary, however, because the one I brought with me isn't advanced enough for this book.... read more

Well, I've been in Paris for 10 nights now, and I've decided that tonight is my last. I have seen everything that I wanted to see: the Louvre, Notre Dame, Versailles, the Pantheon, the Eiffel Tower, and all the museums and art gallaries. (My favorite places in Paris are the Pantheon and the Louvre) Tomarrow I am going to catch a train to Dijon, where I will stay for a few days before finding a bicycle and touring the Loire Valley.... read more

The past few days have been relaxing. I just stayed near my hostel and went to a couple small art gallaries and museums. After switching hostels today, I went to see the Pantheon and Notre Dame de Paris. I would have to rank the Pantheon at the top of my favorite places in paris. Notre Dame is at the bottom. The difference is the amount of tourists. Notre Dame just had too many, while there was only a handful visiting the Pantheon. I went back to Notre Dame at night, when nobody was there, and it was much more enjoyable.... read more

Hey All! Greetings from Paris! I have been having a great time here, staying in hostels, visiting museums and tourist attractions. Been having some trouble finding working internet, but I finally found a working computer to update this blog on. Paris is great. I would reccomend visiting it if you have never been here before. It is so different than North American cities. There aren't many highrises here, and all the buildings are at least six stories high. Lots of art gallaries and museums too. Been having some language trouble, but most of the people here speak at least some english, so I can get by. I'll be going to the palace at Versaille tomarrow, so I'll post pictures from that later. ... read more
