We left Yosemite and headed west through California and to the coast to the super city of San Francisco. We still had a few hours before we handed our hire car back so we weaved our way through the city and drove right across that great big Golden Gate Bridge a nice looking bridge it is too and on into Muir woods. Muir woods is home to a very nice indeed collection of Giant Redwood trees the

Park Life

After the party time we had in Vegas we were ready to head off and do some nature to have us a honeymoon. We assembled an elite squad for this early part of our honeymoon that consisted of the new Mr Mrs T and the Freckleton based trio of Mum and Dad Thompson and Auntie Von all in a lsquobigrsquo mini van. We found our mini van in the car park of the Mirage casino just like the chap sa

Well we had a right good few days out there on the Inca Trail super perfick it was top weather great guides we never grew tired of our guide calling us his 'super mountain hikers' and a top banana group made for an uber good trek. Each day was pretty hard going what with being up high and with the heat and all that but the trail was excellent and the scenery was amazing pretty much all of t

In Search of the Guinea Pig

We left La Paz again and headed up the road for half an hour to La Cumbre which is well high up at 4900m. From here we picked up an Inca trail that we followed on foot down through the Andes for the next three days 56km the Choro Trek. It's really good the Choro trek because over the three days you decend from way up high at La Cumbre right down to a low of 1400m at Chairo which gave us

It's a Jungle Out There

We enjoyed some chill out time in Sucre Bolivia's judicial capital. Bolivia is an incredibly cheap place to travel in comparable to India and Vietnam so we treated ourselves to a posh hotel for a few days. Sucre felt like a small town really not too busy at all with lots of pleasant buildings a good place to chill. On one day we went to have a look at some dinosaur footprints they have clos

Our final stop in Argentina was in the north western city of Salta back into the Andes for us. Great big country Argentina 8th biggest in the world apparently just behind India about 960million less peoples living there though Salta is a good place to do outdoor pursuits and to party but we didn't do any of that because we had a cold each so we slowed our pace down and did some coughing an

Buenos Aires and a Great Big Waterfall

We had a few fun filled non stop action packed crazy days in Buenos Aires. We'd barely landed there and we found ourselves in a transit van winding through the downdown streets of this hugemungous and exciting city. We arrived at our destination and were ushered into a building and up some stairs into a studio ready to learn some new skills we were ready to learn Tango The lesson was great fun

We arrived in Santiago 5hrs before wed even set off from Auckland which is pretty good going given that we were on a plane for 11hrs.... So now for the moment were 3hrs behind the UK instead of the 13 ahead that we were in NZ. Time travel is pretty tiring though and we've taken a wee while and some big sleeps to get ourselves sorted but we're on top of it now.We enjoyed Santiago quite a pl

As we write this blog not only are we half way around the world geographically speaking but we're also exactly 100 days into our 200 day trip and as coincidence would have it we're heading back towards Halifax today as our ever eastwards direction of travel starts to bring us homeWe left the delights of Napier on the east coast of the north island and headed into the mountainous interior by w

We're still having a whale of a time in NZ

We left Queenstown and headed north and west through the mountains to the south island's west coast again this time to Glacier country. The Fox and Franz Josef glaciers are on NZ's west coast and are a couple of bigguns that are part of a select band of glacier's only 1 worldwide that are currently advancing as opposed to retreating. We decided to do an all day trek on the Fox Franz Josef i

We'd already seen the most of it on a previous trip so this time we gave the

The last thing we did in Northern Vietnam was a good thing an overnight boat tripcruise around Halong Bay. We did some cruising explored some rather fetching caves kayaked around a bit which was fun and did a spot of drinking too. We had a right good bunch of people on that boat trip. After that we headed back into Hanoi for the last time to catch a train headed south down the coast.Hanoi h

Merry Christmas from Goa

Since we last typed we've spent time in India's southern state of Kerala and India's 'beach state' of Goa. In Kerala we spent a couple of days in Kollam and did a trip around the narrow back waters which was jolly good fun indeed. Then we made our way up north via an 8 hour boat trip through the natural waterways and what not to the town of Allapuzah which was a jolly pleasant way to spend the day

On arrival at the Ajmer station we were greeted with the sentence Sorry sir but your train is now leaving in 10 hours time not the words you want to hear at 530am but at least it was delivered with a smile..........Hence we did jump into a rick
