Hello there, Hope everyone is well, all is good here on the Canadian front! No travel blog updates for a little while because to be honest I haven't really done much lately... Been fairly busy with some school cricket visits, currently in the city of Red Deer @ Central Middle school for 3 days teaching some budding Canadian stars. Red Deer is aboot 1.5 hrs North of Calgary and home to around 70,000 Red Dearians. Staying with the PE teacher Rob Willms & his lovely family at their home and having a great time. Rob fixed up a great feed of [View Full Entry]

Hi folks, Been a busy week! spent a few days doing school cricket clinics at Senator Pat (or monty as I like to call it) Burns junior high trying to enlighten the Canucks on the game. Followed that up with a trip to the season opening Calgary Vipers baseball game on Thu night. Pretty good fun! There was an Aussie pitcher, heap of guys from U.S, Japan, Sth America, and just one lousy Canadian. And he WAS lousy. The match was played against the highly fancied Gary (who names a city Gary???) Railcats. The standard was ok, some average throwing and [View Full Entry]

Yep, this is the last time I will be updating my cricket progress because I am making none! Ab Moore Ct Sneaky Keeper LEAVING a ball outside off stump for 8... Don't leave the ball and get caught behind you idiot. Changing to plan II (The Huss-enator approach) which involves the aerial route straight back over the bowlers head, having seen some of the catching I will back myself! Cavs are 0 and 2 despite being a better team, check out the link if interested... http://www.sportstatz.com/ss/linkreport.asp?club=233&mode=100&match=650 http://www.sportstatz.com/ss/linkreport.asp?club=233&m [View Full Entry]

Yep, Moore Ct WK bowled some tricky bloody left arm quick Indian dude for 5. Now relying on injuring one of my fellow teammates in the "Grid" to maintain a position in the team. Reckon pushing one of the older blokes to exhaustion might create 1 or 2 soft tissue injuries... The Cavs were rolled for just 120 in 40 overs in our opening match of the year. A lively pitch against a pretty good bowling attack had us in trouble early. This tricky bloody Indian swung half a dozen in and then suckered me with the seamer going the other [View Full Entry]

Hi guys, hope you are well. Been a busy weekend in Kelowna, British Columbia, driving, playing cricket, watching hockey playoffs, playing cricket & DRIVING! Kelowna is aboot 744kms west of Calgary, with a population of about 150,000. It really has the feel of a small town rather that a big city, based in a very pretty valley around a very large lake. It only took us 9hrs to get here (inc a couple of food stops) on Friday night, got to the hotel around 2am (with the hour we gained crossing a timezone). The drive through the Rocky Mountains was unreal! [View Full Entry]

Arrival! North America » Canada » Alberta » Calgary
Hello! Thanks for the emails, yes I have arrived and have settled in already. Flight was good from home to LA, stopped off in Auckland for some fush and chups, watched a few movies (go the penguins!) and read a bit, went pretty quick really. Customs at LA was full on and the airport in massive, but got to my hotel pretty easy. Spent the two days just lazing around in the sun by the pool & in the gym. LA has a bit of a funny smell to it, it took a good 10 minutes to fly over the city [View Full Entry]

Hi Guys, Well it is official. I leave Melbourne on Sunday 23rd at 10.45am, arriving in Los Angeles 10 minutes later on the same day! quick flight that... Staying a couple of nights in LA before I head up to Calgary, which will be home for the next 5 months (at least, hopefully...). Kristie made a flying visit home to Tassie before we headed north to catch up with Mitchell James Lefevre and the Plunk in Melbourne, they are kindly putting us up for a few nights. Taking in a Beth Orton concert, my last AFL game for a while (Dogs [View Full Entry]

A magnificant day greeted what will be Kristie and my last Lonnie cup for some time. The "cup" is the social event on the Launceston calender, attended by around 20,000 locals. We arrived early at our sight (kindly organised by Gordon and Geraldine) to study the form guide. Immediately after knocking the top of one, the abligitory msg went out to poor old Mitch hard at it playing duck duck goose with his prep class in a sunny Melbourne primary school, his response as expected, is unprintable in this blog. Fee felt the best option was to put $1 each way [View Full Entry]

Falls Festival 2006 - Tunes, friends and mother nature! We set off a few days before new years with the car fully stocked and Bella (the mental staffy) off visiting with Pinky the boxer at Sheps place. We arrived the night before the bands began to set up camp and chill out in the main arena (which overlooks the beaches around Marions bay) while some cool indie films were playing, Murderball being a standout! On the band bill were the Dandy Warhols, Ozomatli, Ash Grundwelt, Faker, The Cat Empire just to name a few. The weather was glorious for the first [View Full Entry]
