Hello, well, we made it to Chiapas, after 3 more car searches, and a trip back to the belize border, we are finally legal in mexico. crossing the border in texas, we were never stopped, we carried on for 4.ooo miles until we had to turn around. It all delayed us only a day, and after a misty mountain drive, we can relax again in this beautiful town. Tulum was gorgeous too. We rented a cabaña for $20 a night on the beach, welcomed a couple crabs, and two stray cats during the day. Good thing for the portable stove and coffee maker. I could have stayed at that beach for weeks. witnessed a funeral today.everyone walked the main square behind cars filled with flowers, and musicians leading. horseback riding yesterday into the across a busy ... read more

Well, here we are in the yucatan penn. headed off to Tulum. Left Xalapa, drove through Veracruz, ate some fresh shimp at a "truck stop". Muy rico! Stayed the night in Catemaco, a village know for its shamans. We stayed at Hotel Brujo, woke up, walked around the lake, and hit the road. We have endured about 5 van searches. I try to be friendly to the federales, but they are a very serious breed, then shortly on our way. Uxmal was beautiful, but the most scorching place yet, no wonder they left from lack of water. Chichen Itza "place of the well of the itza" was the largest and most impresive city yet. The grande comote provided this city to dwell longest. After, Itza, we had some time to wander through the back roads to ... read more

Hey everyone, we are in the mountains on the gulf coast in the capital of veracruz. We arrived here yesterday after a day of driving from xilitla. In xilitla, we stayed in a castle on the top of a mountain, with a beautiful view, pool, marble tiled wide hallways, an orchid garden, and a 40 min. walk to Las Pozas. A man named Edward James built himself a castle in the jungle with amazing architecture, and waterfalls leading to crystal clear pools. After his passing, the jungle took over the place, so it is just crawling with interesting sites. Before we arrived there, we came to a road block. It was a small town protesting in the street for clean water. Apparently they were promised this, time has passed, and nothing. Rob took the liberty to ... read more

Well, we made it across the border with ease. got the green light everytime. Driving was not so bad, nice hwy for next to the border. By 5 pm, we were arriving in the outskirts of Monterrey. Driving into this city was hellish. I cut someone off, and they slowed to let me know. The lanes were decieving, I was doing the best I could! What a mess! We got to our hostel in one piece. El hostel aqui esta muy tranquil! Went out to a club, visited the historia de mexico museo, and fed the hungry on sunday. Grilled cheese sanwiches, juice, and bananas. I am dealing with some poison ivy that showed up a day after I left the woods in Arkansas, the mexico heat does not help, although, I am looking forward to ... read more
