I have been getting a lot of questions concerning travel outside of the USA and the new passport requirements, especially for cruising. Here is the link for checking passport requirements: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbpmc_2223.html Do not get confused on the closed loop caption under cruises. It makes it sound like you can cruise without a passport if you leave from a US port and end in the same US port. What it says is that you can travel from a US port to a US territory and back, this means travel from US port to USVI, San Juan etc... so if your ship stops in the Bahamas that is NOT a US territory and you need a Passport!! After returning from Southern California, I found it very interesting that the children ages 4 and 10 talked more about the swimming pools at the hotel, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios than about Disneyland. It seems that the Happiest Place on Earth was not in their books. The lines were far too long, the fast passes worked as long as the rides did LOL several broke down. The day that all the High Schools went to Disneyland the children begged us to leave the crowds were horrendous... we finally broke down and left. My suggestion is check to see what may be going on while you are there, allow 5 days minimum in case there are any special events that might interfere with your enjoyment of the parks. Recently returned from a vacation with 12 people to Southern California and have some tips. First, if you can purchase the CityPass that is a great value to be able to see several parks. Second, go early in June for the best weather and the shortest lines... just remember during the first week of June the schools in California are not out but they are doing their senior or class trips. We made this mistake and on Tuesday we barely rode any rides before finally deciding to leave for the day essentially losing out on one day of our hopper pass. Also, the next day they were having a senior thing and the park closed at 9 pm when normal is midnight. They also canceled the fireworks on one night but had them the next night ... read more
