Leisure strolling through the forest fixing up a mountain bike jogging mowing my grandmotherrsquos 8 hectares of lawn biking from one grandmotherrsquos house to the other. I didnrsquot talk to anyone my age until the weekend when I called Damian an old c http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Poland/Lower-Silesian/Wroclaw/blog-430479.html Copenhagen Distortion We tenderly disembarked the Emerald at 8am and wove our way through Copenhagen via taxi metro and bus to Tinersquos neighborhood which we quickly decided was a most livable section of the city due to its close proximity to two kebab joints a grocery store the bus stop and the University. Tine a first year nursing student welcomed us to CPH helped us pick out what sites we should check ou http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Denmark/Region-Hovedstaden/Copenhagen/blog-427737.html Osloow I must admit that we were sluggish in exploring Oslo due to our conditions caused by various exploits of the nights before. It was cold dreary and we were feeling glum but managed to get a solid morning of exploration in. It was the first time we cut the exploration short too. The best part of the day was sitting near a sweet circular fountain people watching chatting reflecting. Another http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Norway/blog-417826.html Dancing with Death in Danzig We arrived in Poland two days before the 20th anniversary of Solidarnosc and the tricity was all aflutter with nationalistic activity. So our boat actually docked in Gdynia the port town of the tricity which consists of Gdynia industrial town Sopot resort town and Gdansk historic town. We had to take the bus from the port to the train station and a train from Gdynia to Gdansk which http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/blog-417819.html The Cobblestones As we only had half a day in Tallinn Jenn and I rented bikes to tour the city. I got a sweet brown citybike that rode like a charm while Jenn opted for a smaller mountain bike. This was before we learned that the old town of Tallinn was completely covered in cobblestone The city is absolutely charming reminds me of York. Both are medieval towns with cobblestone streets bowing buildings g http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Estonia/Tallinn/blog-411923.html White Nights in Russia I have been waiting to visit Russia for a long long time. My grandmotherrsquos stories of traveling to the Ukraine and Russia during the 60s 70s and 80s have always fascinated me she set up a sort of trade route between Poland and those two countries when times were rough and merchandise in Poland was lacking. She even sent my father and his sister to Budapest via train to pick up supplies http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Russia/Northwest/Saint-Petersburg/blog-409220.html Slinkin' in Helsinki It was a triumph of a day as Jenn and I managed to tour all of Helsinki and eat a reindeer lunch for a grand sum of 6 euro respectively. We bought a 680 euro all day transportation pass for 250 euro and nixed the excessive kilometers of rambling. We visited the Temppeliaukio Rock Church looks like a UFO the Senate Square and Lutheran St. Nicholas Cathedral looks like a cake the redte http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Finland/Uusimaa/Helsinki/blog-408113.html The Stockholm Classy Pants Phenomenon It was raining in Stockholm when we pulled into port dreary yet picturesque perhaps it even more so because of the murkiness. Stockholm is niched amongst thousands of islands an archipelagocity cityarchipelago. Water water all around. In the sky on the ground left and right. Jenn and I started our selfpropelled tour off by visiting the Gamla Stan the old part of the city. We saw th http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Sweden/Stockholm-County/Stockholm/blog-407842.html Things I've been doing since graduation Time to start this blog up again as I'll many fantastical tales of Scandinavian fjords BalticCarpathian retreats and general Euro debauchery to tell in the next few months. In proper fashion I will provide a quick rundown of places I have been to in the past 2 weeks since I graduated for there have been many. Flew into Poznan took a bus to the city centre and a train 3 hours to Wroclaw. I used the 60 z322ote that I had been stealthily hiding from my last Poland trip in November. When we made it to Wroc322aw it was a http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Poland/Lower-Silesian/Wroclaw/blog-289389.html Beautiful Barcelona From Madrid my brother and I took the 1AM bus to Barcelona. The bus ride was shitty. Overnights always are. Unfortunately my brother and I got separated on the bus and had to sit a row apart. I was sitting next to some guy that spent 20 minutes saying goodbye to his girlfriend before the bus left. When we were all situated on the bus he was next to the window and still peering out at her http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/Catalonia/Barcelona/blog-284165.html Serenity in Segovia The night before we went to Segovia I hopped on the internet and tried to find a way to get there from Las Rozas instead of Madrid. Las Rozas is only like 57 km from Segovia whereas Madrid is 73 km away. Of course the damn Spanish internet told me nothing useful. It said that a bus went from Las Rozas to Segovia gave me no times and no location of departure... wait.. it said Las Rozas bus s http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/Castile-Leon/Segovia/blog-283313.html Madrid Madness Part 2 My brother arrived on Saturday and it started another chapter of adventures in Madrid. We quickly took him to drop off his stuff at Jenn and Jess' madre's house. We didn't go in because their madre doesn't allow anyone inside. Jenn took his huge suitcase in and pretended that it was her's and that it was stuff that her mom sent her from NJ. Haha. After that it started raining and the four of http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/District-of-Madrid/Madrid/blog-278598.html Madrid Madness Part 1 After quite an easy flight from Newark to Madrid I met Jenn at the Nuevos Ministerios Metro. We quickly proceeded to check in at my hostel near Tribunal where I had to stay for two nights before I moved camp to her friends place outside of Madrid. We chatted for a little while and grabbed a beer but then she had to leave to go to class. I naturally decided to go to Plaza Cibeles. I can't waitThere is good news and bad news concerning the Greece trip. My department gave me the money to go. But I chose to use it towards tuition next semester instead. It was a tough choice since Greece a Classical wonderland and I am an avid Classicist. But alas I will make it there one day. I told her I had some prior engagements on Friday night but SaturdayMonday was a possibility. Later in the week I decided to reserve a car for Saturday and it looked like I was going to be going to the ATL. After my last class on Friday I called her u http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Georgia/Atlanta/blog-263297.html Alternative Spring Break in Yosemite CA For the past three years I've been spending Spring Break on service trips all around the States. Thus far I've been able to visit Phoenix and climbed Camelback Mountain visit Colorado and hike the Rockies and this year a big group of us flew over to California to spend a week in Yosemite National Park. Not only were we able to help the National Park Service out but we also had the opportuni http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/California/Yosemite-National-Park/blog-256717.html Driving to Roma Mia Vita My favorite place in the world. Rome. The day after I got back from the Baltic buslagged exhausted sleepy I had to be prepared to drive down to Italy. From Poland. Through out of the way Germany. I was completely ready. During the summer my aunt Ela drives up from Rome where she lives and works to Poland for the month of August. She invited me when I first got to Europe to stay with http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Lazio/Rome/blog-232409.html Gdask Danzig and Sopot Roadtrip On a beautiful day Malwina Ada Adam and I set out on a little roadtrip from D261bki to Gda324sk. It took us approximately 2 hours to get there and we drove through a beautiful part of Poland one of the richest counties voivodeships called the Pomorskie. The clouds were very impressive that day. We arrived in Gda324sk around 11AM and set out straight for the rynek town square. http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Poland/Pomerania/Gdansk/blog-227548.html The Baltic Shores After a good few days in Southerm Poland I had the opportunity to travel up north to the Baltic Shores. My aunt and uncle also have a Pensjonat in D261bki which is a small touristy town situated on the Baltic Sea and nestled between the sea and a small lake. The Pensjonat is right on the middle of this stretch of land. It is about 150m to the sea on one side and 50m to the lake. It's nic http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Poland/blog-227285.html
