It took us 14hrs to travel from PM to Bariloche. During the last 2-3 hros of the journey we could immediately tell that we were going to like this place. The scenery of the lakes and mountains was incredible especially when we passed through El Bolson and thinking about what we could do their got us very excited. Bariloche and around is a 12 month tourist town; Winter - skiing. Summer - hiking, biking, water rafting, kayaking, canoeing etc on the lakes. Bariloche is situated on the South shore of Lago Nahuei Huapi and the centre for exploring the National Park. [View Full Entry]

Yvonne all kitted out ready for the challenge.....
We arrived in Valdivia (Chili) late at night. Our bus broke down before it had taken off.... A new bus was ready after a 2 hour delay. A six hour spectacular ride over the Andes made up for the waiting at Bariloche bus station. The boarder crossing was a bit of a spectacal... First the Argentinian boarder. Everybody out of the bus, to have your passport stamped....The whole process repeated itself 15 mins later at the Chilean side (including us having to bin all our sandwiches and fruit...). Anyway we arrived at our hostel around midnight, to discover that they double [View Full Entry]

Got thrown out whilst typing previous message. So as I was saying, you've got beggers carrying a drugged up child (who belongs to someone else) begging for money, tourists being prime targets...... [View Full Entry]

Last few days in BA….. someone tried to steal the camera whilst I was taking a picture- this guy whizzed up from behind on his bike and tried to snatch it out of my hand but as the camera was strapped to my wrist, I practically pulled him off his bike with the force…. Next time, he might get his tactics right!! Rucksack got fixed but on the day of collection (from the other side of the city), I wasn't feeling too great after a little party the night before so we had to catch a taxi instead of a tube [View Full Entry]

Colonia del Sacramento
Colonia del Sacramento
Snapshot of the village
Friday 16th we handed in the key of our beloved apartment in Buenos Aires (from now on BA). Our journey continued to Colonia de Sacramento in Uruguay. Uruguay….if I would not have been a football fanatic I would know nothing about the country. Now I at least know they were the first world champions (1930 I believe). One hour on the ferry and we arrived in this unbelievable beautiful tranquil village. A welcome change after hectic (and very lively) BA. Clean air, eating outdoors without pollution. We also enjoyed the local specialty “chivitos”. The biggest burger ever wit [View Full Entry]

After talking with a few travellers, we've decided to leave out Angel Falls (Venezuela) and do the Iguazu Falls (Argentina) instead as they are supposed to be the best in all of South America. So, we embarked on a16hr bus ride from BA to Puerto Iguazu. Surprisingly, the ride was very comfortable, well, we did have a 'cama' so the seats reclined into a bed position plus we got fed… So glad we came here. The Iguazu falls borders Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay so we could have had our passports stamped for a day in Brazil but we decided to remain [View Full Entry]

Hola amigos, For all that found me on the picture with my friend Enzo and wandering what is so special about him (Enzo that is). Enzo Fransescoli used to be the captain of the Uruguyan football (soccer for Phil) team. He also played for River Plate, Paris Saint Germain, Inter Milan etc. He is a bit of a legend here. Taxi and bus drivers stopped in the middle of the road to get his signature.... After tackling him from behind what made him look like he thought he was going to robbed, to ask if I could have my picture taken [View Full Entry]

Hi to all you out there in Europe. This blog entry is comletely dedicated to the Boca Juniors game we visited (Yvonne has covered pretty much everything else we´ve done so far)!! Well...where do I start... seeing Boca was a life long dream coming true for me. It was great!! The passion of the fans dwarfs everything else I´ve seen in football stadiums in Holland and England. 90 mins of full on chanting accompanied by drums. Yvonne, Adam (Yvonne´s ex-colleague and passionate Boca fan since he came to live in BA) and I joined in with the 50,000 jumping up and [View Full Entry]
