Time is passing so quickly! Applogies again for the lateness of this blog and therefore the length of it!! So after Uruguay we headed back into Argentina and to Cordoba to celebrate Rhiannons birthday. Cordoba was a bust town but it was a good base to do some day trips from. We visited the Che Guevara museum to learn all about his life and everything he believed in, which was very interesting indeed. We went out for a nice meal in one of the cobbled streets of Cordoba for a birthday meal, only to be joined by one of the local street sellers who got himself a cup of coffee and proceeded to chat to us until we had finished our meal!! After that we headed out to a local pub with some of the ... read more

Hola! Appologies for the lack of blog, once again! Well I think I last left you guys in New Zealand. We flew out of the big city that is Auckland nearly one month ago now . Our last few days were spent trying to sell our beloved car. Apparently though, most backpakers are richer than us and want a car that is newer than our 1984 Mitsibushi Mirage! We evenb tried to give it away at our hostel but nobody wanted it! The morning before our flight out, a lovely man saw the car for it´s true worth and bought it from us for $400 NZ, despite the fact the window would not open! The flight was long and my video didn´t work so I had to watch the one next to me!! I think we ... read more

Yip, Another year older and still the travels continue!! I finished work on Friday the 30th of March...which was very sad. I have really enjoyed woking at Ecan and may even return one day!! The next morning I got up at 5.30am to catch the bus to Lake Tekapo to meet Rhiannon and Alison who had already started the great big road trip...blooming public transport! From Tekapo, we headed to the Tasman Glacier. I have already visited the glacier as part of my training for work but the other two hadn't. Even though I had seen it before, the views are still spectacular! From Tasman we headed to Wanaka to spend the night in a camp site. They had some street art displays on by "that famous guy who takes aerial photos" (sorry I forgot his ... read more

Guys guys guys, appologies for the lack of blogs recently but I've been a busy bunny. This one will have very few words but some amazing pictures! Last week can only be described as amazing. I had a three day field trip where I got paid to tour the South Island, eating out every night and staying in some nice hotels, while learning some very interesting facts about the geology and geography of New Zealand. Last weekend, Rj and I finally managed to get 4 days off together so we headed out on an ADVENTURE of a MASSIVE scale. We headed over to the West Coast to see the Alps and the Glaciers that they host. We got a helicpoter tour over both the Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers and had a snow landing right at ... read more

And what a year it is going to be! I am still really enjoying life in New Zealand. Work at Ecan is lots of fun and I am learning so much. I went on site visits for 2 days to Kaikoura which is a beautiful area. As well as learning about the area and the consents in that area, I also got to visit the seal colony after we had finished work! You can go out on boats whale watching and you are almost guaranteed to see whales. There had been Orca's there the day before. The Department of Conservation (DOC) has really strict rules for the whale watching there. Only one boat company and one helicopter company are allowed to run tours and only 2 vessels are allowed near the whales at any one time. ... read more

Yip, you gotta love it when your boss interrupts you taking an order from a table with those words!! Thankfully Rhiannon was ok and had "just" fallen off her bike and not been struck by a lorry which was my main fear while legging it to the hospital! Not being the best on bikes...she fell off and has broken her collar bone and skinned every patch of skin on her elbows and knees! Needless to say she is in a lot of pain but she is a brave little soldier so is doing fine. (there are some lovely photos on her blog for those of you who like to see shoulders at two completely different heights!)It will take a while to heal though and she can't even enjoy her days off due to the pain associated ... read more

Well I thought I would send you all a wee update seen as how I've not posted a blog in a while! Well life in New Zealand continues to be fun! Although it's summer, it has rained a lot here at the moment! Some days I was even....dare I say it....cold! That however did not stop us heading to the beach on Sunday though! We got out our cossies and braved the freezing cold sea! And boy was it cold! We were pleasantly surprised at the lack of sea weed at the particular spot chosen. We went to New Brighton beach which is quite famous for it's pier. The pier however was just a pier! It has absolutely nothing on it...not even a wee sign! I was bitterly disappointed and so chose not to take a ... read more

Noooooo! Well I finally have a job....but I'm back to being a good old waitress!! I'm working in a busy street by the River Avon, right in the middle of Christchurch. The area is called the "strip" because it has lots of restaurants in a row. They all become night clubs after last orders and are open till 6am....gulp! Mine is called the Boulevard and seems to have the loudest music and the biggest bouncers...not sure if thats a good thing or not! Thankfully I am only even on "days" which mean I always finish around 11pm!! The only good thing that makes being a waitress again bearable is that I have to make all the drinks and coffees for my tables so last night I pulled my first pint. Everyone I work with...well the 2 ... read more
