Andrea Bowie is one of the numerous residents of England currently to be without work because of a national state alliteratively described as ´the credit crunch´, although the company she was working for needed little to further its demise. As with even 40 years experience it was unable to deliver wtihin 24 hours classic literature such as ´South Down buses for beginners´ directly to the door of its eager-bobble hated buyer. Lost and woebegone she knew little of what to do until her dear ginger compardre sent her the email of a friend of a friend. There was a brief stop in Atlanta for a final beer and a glimpse of the American troops who’s camouflage (and tearful spouses) were not so incognito at departure gate 36, and hence forth there in she arrived in Chile

Alright everyone, heres teh bolivia blog. Entered this country about a week ago, crossing from peru on the 1970s throwback bus, with brown upholstery and a certain whiff that matched. woken in the early hours, those travelling to copacabana were unloaded into a smaller minibus where we would be joined on route by a selection of bolivians making there way to the homeland. between the backpackers, big skirted, bowler hatted, beplaited ladies climbed on teh bus, insistent that the tourists sit on the proper seats. While they perched on a padded bar and dabbed their noses on the inards of their skirts. NEver seen a face so lined. Got ´charred´at in border control for leaning on teh table. bolivians not a huge fan of the english, this was sfurther confirmed when at a peña (local music ... read more

NOTE LOCATION. CHILE HAS BEEN EXITED. 4 AND A HALF MONTHS. done. were i draw some sort of flashy excel chart then it woudl show a quirky purple line´s gradient gradually steapening as chilean life takes on. Superb final two months, complete with un poco español, a little bit of jessica by my side and muchos aventuras. Post the week long winter adventure it was decided chilling out at near by beaches might be a better option, with teh bonus of 4 walls, mamma uno and a variety to the diet of much loved pan. BUENO QUEQUE (in ingles means NICE ARSE) took our cake baking skills to a new level and cooked over 200 queques de inglaterra, selling them at the local market (to continue our stream of luck it pissed it down however pity ... read more

so went to the hairdressers. this was my second outing to the peluquira. the internet was broken so unable to print picture of required strimming. couldn´t be bothered to look up correct words in dictionary. the woman doing my hair turned out to be ...the cousin of one of the kids at the nursery (Alberto - looks like a hamster whos had a labotamy, asked him where his brain was the other day.) KARMA EXISTS ginger. pointed, hand gestured. yes i would like my fringe straihtened adn the rest curly. Yes i know i have a centre parting, but would like a side fringe. She gave me a centre parting and then straightend teh hair on either side. ´No quiero cortinas´I DON¨T WANT CURTAINS. looking at myself in teh mirror understood exactly why rose let ... read more

So, pretty standard really, about 3 weeks behind as always, and had all the best intentions. it was adios arica. wednesday morning while we attempted to once more digest feo banana for breakfast it was decided enough was enough. we may be saving money but we were not smiling and the sun did not need a hat, but more a stick to beat its way through the ever pressing clouds. we packed up the windbreak and fork (nicked a bit of tarpaulin - forgive me lord but teh dogs did steal the bread) and decided to head south to Iquique where teh ´rough guide´promised surfing hostels, sunshine and a precarious sanddune that leered over the city like a huge slab of chocolate. plenty of time for that. fortuneatly we managed to hitch a lift into teh ... read more

Party on a Prayer My epileptic horse dance moves aren’t really impressing here (not sure they really did in England - but then everyone was so smashed, gazeaboed, mullered, bogrolled - you know Michael McKintyre? - to notice). O yeah, we just hit a month with absolutely no alcohol. Final taster of the devils urine was a pint in Atlanta airport´s TGI Fridays. Was so weird, kept on asking people if my luggage was defiantly going to be transferred to Santiago flight. Walked past this amazing lounge, really luxurious with swish, pearl grey seating and glass laptop tables. WOW, I was impressed, living it up amongst the business class of Atlanta airport. I then walked past about 60 similarly furnished areas and realized it was the standard departure lounge and mine could be found at ... read more

We had taken the decision that hostels were far too expensive, CHile is by no means a backpackres haven and ´Sunny days´hostel may have given us cake on arrival but it was not within budget. Good old çlonely planet had told us there was a campsite near by so we set off to find it, deciding a collectivo was better as no one seemed ot have heard of it. polystyrene body boards in tow we clambered in. And then drove. 3 beachs we drove past. on one side of us was the sea, on the other a sprawling city and sand dunes, and then the city sort of petered out and there was only the odd tin shack, some open top with bedframes and scrap metal all about. We finally drove up a sidelane where ... read more

Right so have returned from the winter vacation one week earlier than had intended .Hopes of Mendoza in persuit of some of the world´s finest wines were postponed in a desperate need for sunshine, summer holidays and a bit of body boarding. Surfing maybe what the cool kids do but body boarding has definately got status here. Boards retail at a muy carro price and many have upgraded to ones with a a fin - at every beach i´ve visited you are guaranteed to see some strapping chileans heaving on the wetsuit for the sake of basically sitting down in the surf and waited to be taken from behind by a nippy pacific wave. Body boarding is business here. WE borrowed some of the Duran family´s finest polyester specifmens, both artistically adorned with exotic scenes of ... read more

Day 84 Well, here we go. Bien trabajo andrea, 3 months and you have managed to sep the blog up to week 2. Was thinking perhaps a brief round up before advance on further travels. As it stands have fortuneaty not been done for molestation, despite sending a child home with a blue willy because I forgot to wash his hands before pipi On the subject I have been weed on only once (manser has already commented that nothing has changed since uni). I cound not decipher the word baño when spoken by the child with a speech impediment. Am at last able to organize and successfully teach a 5 year old English (POR FIN) I would like to thank the wigglies, the writers of the hokey kokey and Barney the Dinosaur for making this possible. ... read more

THese are all SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO out of date, wll be leaving here in 2 weeks !ª!!! so will condense most adventures to a nice brief message soon. muy feliz (HAPPY) now. keep me posted on yoru lives. love to all. xx xx So after watching some good old fashion hammer horror, with hillbillies going through a blender and satanic lorry drivers after the circus (see other blog) feeling much happier with life in general. Maybe everything is going to be OK ( I echo the desperate bellows of my driving instructor after nearly colliding with the central reservation on the dual carriageway while overtaking a bus). People all over the world really are the same. Sleep in on Saturday, and wake to my alarm falling off the bedside table. Must dash - cooking Mexican for mormon missionarie´s ... read more

In the beginning (NOTE MUCH HAS CHANGED) =) Right so after some consultation with Inglaterra it seems that have not explained any of the first few weeks. Thus step into your time machine, stand aside Michael J Fox because we are about to go right back to week 1 - 2 and work forth from there. Lets just pretend just left the country (and the past few weeks of English sun have only just begun): Arrival at the jardin was over-awing and after mucho meet, greats and bessitoes all over the face (it became clear I had rememberd/learnt no Spanish despite returning to the hole of swindon new college for 2 months) I wanted nothing more than to pass out and self absorbently question why I was doing this . However, after the overnight flight from ... read more
