Mozambique continued...

Sunday was quite different than Saturday mainly because we spent all day being comfortably toasty and didnt find it to be cold at all. After breakfast it was around 930 a.m. and we decided to take a walk before heading to the beach to lie out we walked to the south of us and there is a beautiful rocky point that we explored there. We agreed that if it was at least 11 a.m. by the time w

The roads in Mozambique are more like simply driving on a beach it was an intense four wheeling adventure to get to Ponta do Ouro with us crammed in the back cab of the truck. Mozambique is beautiful But there is one thing we were not expecting the breeze wind here is COLD When we got here it was really windy which made it pretty brisk like brisk enough that you want to

Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary

Our destination in Swaziland was the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary a beautiful retreat up in a valley in the mountains where you can sleep in traditional bee hive huts. We really had no idea what to expect in Swaziland as there was no real website for Mlilwane and it was not on trip advisor. So for me I was a bit nervous as I like to know what I am getting into ahead of time. Once again though

Kruger National Park

After leaving Pezulu it was just a short drive to Kruger National Park. We took a slow meandering game drive through the park towards Skukuzu the site where we checked in for our walking safari. The awesome thing about driving through Kruger is the excitement of never knowing what you are going to see. One thing we didnt realize is that the animals come so close to the vehicles. We didn

Animal time Soon after we left the mountains we reached the area where Kruger and the surrounding private game reserves are located. In fact had the visibility been better in the mountains we could have seen Kruger from some of the lookout points we stopped at. You basically come down the mountain pass some farmlands and then there you are surrounded by game reserves . Before we went to Kr

After a great nights sleep at Africa Sky we packed up ate breakfast and headed out towards the mountains. The drive out of Joburg was fascinating as Pete our guide told us a great deal about the history of South Africa. He also gave us the scoop on all the things places we were seeing during our drive. We drove by a squatter village HUGE areas where illegal immigrants from surrounding

Hello everyone from DurbanWe realize it has been a long time since you heard from us that is because we have been in some pretty remote places and have not had internet access since I last posted from Johannesburg. We are sitting in the airport in Durban now getting ready to fly to Cape Town for the last leg of our trip. I have been writing for the blogs all along even though we have not been

Goodmorning allIt39s almost 7 a.m. here and I am up early so decided to add in a quick blip about our time here in Johannesburg. The purpose of our time here is more as a through way to various places and not as a destination in and of itself but it has been a great and memorable part of our trip nonetheless. We have stayed at the Africa Sky Guest House twice now when we first arrived to S

Zambia Victoria falls

We continued our exploration of Victoria falls by going back into Zambia to see them from that side. We didn39t think it could get any better but it really was just as incredible from this other vantage point. Before entering the park to see the falls from this side we first stopped at an outdoor craft market with the intent to browse and shop around at our leisure. Silly Americans we h

Hi and howzit as they say in South AfricaWe are back in Jo39burg now after a mind blowing experience in Zambia and Zimbabwe. I39ll start with Zimbabwe the first place from which we saw the falls... Victoria falls is more spectacular than we ever could have imagined from up above in the helicopter. The only word I can think of that even comes close to describing it is majestic. There a

Our itinerary says that few superlatives can be used to describe Victoria Falls and boy is that right We caught our flight this morning from Jo39burg to Livingstone and arrived here in Livingstone earlier this afternoon. Zambia is definitely much more remote than South Africa or at least than Johannesburg. The flight again was uneventful we were shocked that they served us lunch on the pla

As I type we are sitting and relaxing at the gorgeous Africa Sky Guest House toasting the start of our African adventure. So far things have wildly exceeded all of our expectations The flight although long was comfortable and went by rather quickly.
As of today we are a week and a half out from our departure date... hard to believe it is already so closeWe have heard from our guide that the weather in South Africa is a bit crazy right now. They were having a cold spell as of a week or two ago. However they are hopeful that by the time we arrive it will have warmed up. Luckily we start our trip in Zambia the more northern parts of South Afr
