As this is a travel blog, i find it most appropriate to start by saying I'm from Craiova, Romania. I haven't travelled a lot. In fact I've never been out of the country, but i hope this will change soon. I visited several cities in my home country, and i keep on visiting them every year. It's actually turned into a sort of habit: go to the seaside (Constanta, Eforie Nord and Eforie Sud, Costinesti), go to the mountains (Herculane, Brasov, Sinaia) or visit the capital (Bucharest). I got to see how things changed in these cities and form a few opinions about the people who live here. My hope is that talking (writing) about my experiences will be of help to both me and you.

On the 29th of February I and Gabi left Craiova at 7:00 and went to Bucharest to catch the 15:00 o'clock plane to Belgium. The drive was ok as we didn't feel sick or anything (we usually suffer from car sickness). The anxiety manifested itself mostly in Gabi's case. He becomes silent when he's nervous and this annoys me A LOT. So, he didn't say more than a few words during the whole trip. When we arrived in Bucharest we spent a lot of time queuing to check in and get on the plane. The luggage didn't seem heavy at that time even if we had more than 32 kg/person with us (over the acceptable limit). Later on it proved to be a miracle that we managed to catch the trains in Brussels with that luggage! ... read more

It’s been nice here in Costinesti too. I’ve had a wonderful time with my boyfriend. We played in the warm water and took pictures on the “stafilopods”. We hugged and kissed in the warm light…He’s been with me all the time and we’ve shared a lot of great moments together. When the sun set in, there was party time!!! We went to the one place that remains the same every year (in a positive way I mean): White Horse. This rock and roll café or pub is awesome. It’s always crowded in here and the people are great and really know how to have fun. Some traveled for 16 hours and the first place they wanted to visit in Costinesti was White Horse. If you ever come here, don’t miss it! The music is like nowhere ... read more

I don’t want to be a negative thinker. I make abstraction of the bad things around me and try to have fun. I criticize a lot though, but wouldn’t you? Just take a look at what the word “resort” means to some people. I photographed Costinesti and had a revelation of what civilization means to some. I expect things to be different in other countries. For now, I am actually stuck here and obliged to “enjoy” the weird vacation I’m having in this fair. There’s food everywhere. A multitude of kiosks and small shops, fast food counters and “get it yourself” cafeterias pave the way to the beach. It’s a sad view. The place is crowded and smells like fish, kebabs and, the most popular, shawarma (saorma). Maybe it does sound interesting. For a moment you ... read more

I hoped to have a nice summer. I wanted to go abroad and have a unique experience. Things don’t always go as want them to. My plans changed and visiting France, England, Spain or Italy remained a dream for the winter period. However, I did have a “unique” experience as I visited Costinesti, a “village-town” on the shores of the Black Sea. I’ve visited this location before, but its appearance was a little bit different then. Last year, strong storms and floods affected this place. I saw it on TV. Costinesti was devastated. The big Obelisc (or Obelix as some call it), which is the symbol of this resort, was hit by enormous waves and dragged on the beach. The local houses were underwater and many people died. They were afraid for their lives, but for ... read more
