Hello everyone!! Greece was amazing and now I'm in Portugal until Friday! There are 4 of us and we are staying in a resort on the beach. We spend our whole day at the pool and it's so nice to just relax in the sunshine! We didn't know it but this resort caters to Germans so everything is in German and all the workers speak German. Hello everyone!! Amanda and I got to Athens yesterday morning after spending the night in the Paris airport. We were exhausted but still managed to explore yesterday afternoon. Today we went to the Parthenon, Acropolis, National Gardens, Museum, and the Olympic Stadium. We did a lot of walking and managed to figure out the metro system--it's not easy when everything is in greek! Tomorrow we will check out and take a ferry to Santorini- one of the Greek Islands. Hello everyone!! Sorry I haven't written in a while, things seem to be so busy all the time here now. I just got back from a weekend in Amsterdam and it was...interesting. We tried the whole hostel deal and even though it was an experience, it's something that I will try not to do ever again. We were in a room with 6 bunk beds, 12 people, 8 of whom we didn't know. Bonjour! They all arrived safely Saturday March 1st and I met them at the hotel. I've been staying with them in the Hotel and fortunately it's a short walk to my classes. Mom and Joy went to Nice Monday morning and returned Tuesday night. They had a great time and did a lot of walking. Dad left for Germany Monday morning and will be there until this afternoon (Thursday). Tonight we are going to see the LIDO which is a famous broadway show in Paris. Bonjour everyone, Hope all is well back home. Things are fine here, recovering after being pickpocketed (or purse pocketed I should say). I got a new cell phone today and was able to keep the same number, fortunately. We are taking 20 hours here at the Sorbonne, too bad I only get 15 at UNCW. I take a grammar class from 2-4pm everyday, then Mondays I have an explorations class, tuesdays and thursdays i have art and literature, wednesdays I have a conversation class. Bonjour!!! Living with my host family is helping me adjust to life here in France. I take the train to the metro and then take the RER to get to my classes. It takes about 45 minutes including all the walking to get on connecting metros...not too bad. Everything is fine in Paris. I moved in with my host family yesterday (Sunday) and they are really nice. I have my own room and I have a toilet outside my room and then I use the shower upstairs that the daughters use. It's a weird shower and this morning I didn't wash my hair because I couldn't figure it out. It's a tub with a shower head connected to the hose but its not mounted on the wall. There's no shower curtain either. I've been told you need to sit down in the tub and wash yourself that way. HOW [View Full Entry]
