| 23rd November 2008 Aluel | Hi Kababayan! - From: Filipino’s Diaspora in America “Was supposed to go to pagsanjan and came across your blogs. Read a couple of them and learned a lot. Was saddened though by the latest entry you made when i found out that like many people I know, you have left the country already. I bet a lot of people learned from your blogs and trips. Hopefully you will still continue doing them. I wish you and Val all the best there in the US. Perhaps what saddens me most is that a person (unlike most people I know who prefers to travel abroad) who loves this country and promotes it very much is now away. I believe though that everything happens for a reason. May He continue to shower you and Val's life with blessings upon blessings!”- Adrian sent last Nov. 19 Hi Adrian! Thanks for taking time to read my blog. It was so timely that you sent it on my birthday. I share the same sentiment about how sad it is that we have to leave the Philippines. But as I have said in my article, we need to open our horizon and experience different opportunities. Don’t worry as of date. My love for my country grows more and more each day. I further come to realize how the Philippines is blessed in so many ways. My wife and I look forward visiting home next year. Thanks for your comment. This has inspired me to write my next blog. More power to you. God bless! |

| 13th October 2008 Paul Najera | - From: A different side of Puerto Galera Hi Aluel, It’s nice to hear from you. Thanks for your description of the Mindoro Sling. I have read the rest of your delightful accounts of your exploits and travel in the Philippines. You can really write! Thanks for advertising the land of our birth in your site. I wish you were able to visit Agno and write also about the birthplace of your grandpa and that remote little town of Agno in Luzon with its famous Sabangan Beach and Umbrella Rocks in the far flung west of Pangasinan province. It is here in Agno that your grandpa and my mother together with their four siblings first saw the light of day and spent their early years. Circumstances and external influence made most of them and their children seek homes in the big city and beyond. Each went their separate ways and that is why many of us haven’t even seen each other. I regret that when I was with your dad in Manila in 2006 there was no time for us to get introduced to each other. Have you relocated permanently in the USA with your wife? You have a cousin Roderick Kagaoan (son of the late Nicholas Navarrete Kagaoan) who came recently to Toronto with his young wife and son and they are now Canadian landed immigrants. It’s nice to have close relatives living near me in Canada. We are planning to have a grand re-union of the clan in Florida, USA so keep in touch. Tito Paul |
| 12th October 2008 Aluel | Mindoro Sling Concoction - From: A different side of Puerto Galera Ey Tito Paul! Thank you for taking time to visit my site. My work is humbled by your work at http://www.agno.pangasinan.info/(About Pangasinan and my grandfather) I have a lot to learn from your detailed and well crafted writing skills. I am amazed on how you devoted your time to make your family tree and history of your birthplace. I’m a jealous not having a province of my own, instead I adopted that of my lolo’s and coincidentally my wife’s mother (Milagros Labayen-Atienza) province, Alaminos. The absence of one may be the reason I love to travel so much of our regions. You asked about the Mindoro Sling? It has a base liquor of Rhum with Four seasons concoction (pineapple, orange, mango and grenadine). The best Four Seaon’s drink I have tasted are those from Kamayan restaurant or Cabalen where it is made with fresh fruits. The one’s found in Puerto Galera are seldom prepared that way no thanks to ready to drink Del Monte Four season canned drink. Though it complements it better due to the lack of pulp its smoother that way. Just remember when visiting Puerto Galera expect it to be rustic, its still like a baby boracay but at least it’s way lot cheaper. |

| 7th April 2008 nor de guzman | I agree with all of you! - From: Treasures of Bolinao, Pangasinan I was there sometime in 2004- (it's been a while) and I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Its beauty is kaleidoscopic- it changes constantly every hour of the day. The pristine blue waters blend with the likewise blue skies and hues of orange and pink clouds. It's a haven yet to be discovered by nature lovers! |

| 6th March 2008 Chris | - From: Treasures of Bolinao, Pangasinan Wow! what a great resort. "treasures of bolinao" This is one of the best resort we have ever been in the Philippines. Our team building went fantastically well. The place is perfect, tranquile, homely atmosphere and very private with a touch of class. We missed seeing a extensive bar, but anyway did not bother us at all. If this place is well polished its near to a "aman polo" at Raphels Club in Singapore. Tariff is not for weak spender and again it reflects to the nature of their market. Thumps up. See you again treasures. |

| 22nd February 2008 Paul Najera | A different side of Puerto Galera - From: A different side of Puerto Galera In all my travels in the Philippines I have never to Puerto Galera yet although I have heard of it often even while I was working as a young man in Ayala, Makati, a different Makati then in years gone by. I enjoy reading your stories. Next time I come to visit I will try the Coco Aroma's Mindoro Sling in Puerto Galera. I wonder what the liquor (?) is made of. . Paul, Toronto, Canada |

| 9th December 2007 Aluel | When Renting Boats - From: Taal Lake & the Boutique Revisited When renting boats. Go directly to the Talisay road, Brgy Leynes or closer. It means by pass all the sales people at the Tagaytay rotonda and traverse down. Just tell them you got a contact already & just want to go to talisay. They will charge you if they go along or ask you to follow their motorbike. It's a long winding road say 10 mins going down. When u haggle for the boatride at Talisay you save around P500 from the ussual P2500. The boat ride costs us P2000 from the Taal lake & back. The mini-resort named Touristers Picninc place. we got it from will have some shower facilities for you to change. Nothing fancy. Always bring extra clothes like your going for a swim (even underwear). Cheap kinds of towels are sold at cost (P200) expensive for the type so bring your own. Expect to get wet so they provide plastic coats & life vest. The plastic gets riped of so might as well enjoy the spash! Expect strong waves on the Ber or cold months the east winds are called "Amihan" while west winds are called "Habagat". from theon summer monhths March- May waves are calmer. |

| 11th April 2007 babesbong | nature's best - From: Treasures of Bolinao, Pangasinan we've been to the treasures of bolinao just this holy week and we truly enjoyed the beautiful pristine waters and wonderful nature. A truly amazing place to unwind and relax. Although there's scarcity of water at times and in need of housekeeping improvement (door locks in comfort rooms) the place is still worth visiting just don't you expect too much or else you'll get disappointed. |

| 27th January 2007 Marvin | Congrats! - From: Dumaguete, Antulang Hi Aluel! Congrats!!! What a coincidence that we got married in the same month! haha. I guess we're now fresh members of the "ring on the finger" club. Anyway, I wish all the best for you and Val. Enjoy life together and hope that one day we can all go out in a date with our significant others. The pics are nice, by the way. Looks like you guys had loads of fun! My wife and I are scheduled for our honeymoon next month (Yep, I know it's a bit delayed -- we had to rush back to the melancholic realities of work right after the wedding blast.) We'll keep you posted as soon as we get back with our photos. 'Til then! |

| 21st January 2007 Aluel | Still a piece of paradise - From: Dumaguete, Antulang Hi Mandy! Greetings! I also read the foreign reviews & it also worried me. But, Despite that we proceeded. Some items of truth you should look out for are the following. 1)Distance from Dumaguete City & Antulang really needs a van costing around P1200 per way, going back and forth to discover the city & other tourist spots is not practical, in short once you’re in Antulang stay there. (Once in Antulang you will discover that they will be offering the ATV-All terrain vehicle ride going to a waterfalls area etc. looks fun, I wanted to do it also but my wife disagreed because we need to travel back to the city which is where everything is closer, it will cost you another P1200 back, so better enjoy other resort activities like, horseback riding, yachting or enjoy their infinity pool & massage services, or just be with each other, as my wife said, honeymoon is not for an adventure packed trip.) 2) FOOD- We enjoyed food room service. It's very reasonable. A menu like lechon kawali at around P250 is already good for two just add 10% Service charge & someone would even set-up a candlelit diner for you two in your room!!!. Chabs & Chad really served us well, even prepared the Jacuzzi buble bathe. (P100 per set-up) To add yummies though, we bought our wine, Doritos, Tostitos-cheese, water at a grocery at Dumaguete city before proceeding to the resort, as long as your discreet with your food & drinks you could sneak it in. (Pinoy-style) Also the MENU is basically Filipino, Kare-kare, Porkchop, fried Chicken, sizzling beef steak with fries (our favorite), so not too fancy I guess the foreigners expected more international cuisine. Basically that's it. I hope you will enjoy it as well. Congratulations & Best Wishes! Godspeed! Yours truly, Aluel |
| 17th January 2007 Mhandz | Antulang Facts - From: Dumaguete, Antulang Hi guys, I just came across your blog. Congrats on your wedding. Anyway, I just wanna ask some help here. We were going to Antulang on Feb8 for our honeymoon. I was just wondering how Antulang is? In terms of amenities, staff service.? My soon to be wife was worried when she came to browse the tripodadvisor reviews of antulang wherein 3 foreigner guset were saying that antulang was bad, staff were slow, and all the bad stuff. So, could you please help us since you just came from this resort. If possible can you please e-mail me at mhandz888@yahoo.com. We really appreciate your comments on this. Thanks, God Bless. |

| 2nd May 2006 Pia Ernestine | Treasures of Bolinao resort - From: Treasures of Bolinao, Pangasinan Bolinao itself is a beautiful place but what I'd like to comment on is the Treasures of Bolinao resort. It is too far and the road going there is rough. We were told that the cottages have 2 air-conditioned room but when we got there, we discovered that there is only one room with air-condition, while the other one has an electric fan only. The pool has salt water, and also the water coming from the faucet is salt water!!! We have experienced no water coming out of the faucet while taking a bath!!! As for the beach, it's rocky! We had to walk to other resorts' beach fronts to enjoy it. |
