Thank Allah for Turkish emigration throughout Europe! If it wasn't for turkish felafels (im brod, mit salate, knoblauchsosse und paprikasosse bitte - in bread with salad, garlic sauce and chilli sauce please :)) then I would have to relinquish my flexitarian status and become a fully fledged omnivore again!!!
I've now finally come back to Sydney after having a fantastic time living in and traveling through bits of western, northern and southern europe. I guess I have experienced a lot, but as any traveller would say, there is still so much left to see and do :)
I'm sure that it won't be long before Kati and I will be taking stupid amounts of photos again in some foreign land or from my own Australian backyard, and as per the usual plan, I will endeavor to keep some sort of record of this for at least my own amusement.
If you'd like to see (some of) the places I've been to and read about some of my adventures then jump in my backpack (sorry, it needs a wash) and let the magic of this interwebby thing whisk us away....

Häid Pühi (Happy Holidays) from Tartu, Estonia!!! Well it certainly has been a while since I’ve been in touch with most of you, and as you can see I'm still in in the Baltics in the beautiful little country of Estonia. I’ve been here since the start of September so I’ve had a real opportunity to get to know what life is like here. Now that I think back on the last four months I really have done a lot of cool stuff. It really too hard to capture it all here but some of the things which stand out for me include walking and mushroom picking in marshlands, canoeing recently on an icy river (and during the post canoeing sauna sliding naked on my stomach across a frozen pond :) ). I've also eaten lots ... read more
Picture this if you can... We’re sitting somewhere in Europe amongst other backpackers. It doesn’t really matter where. It could be an internet cafe or a hostel bedroom waiting while I track down the sweet soapy scent of my last pair of clean socks, but if you’d have spent any time with me in such places then there’s more than a good chance that you would have heard this conversation. So, where have you been? Lille, Ypres, London, Iceland... Iceland! Really! Wow!! What’s it like? Iceland is one of those places that is a bit mythical and distant and somewhere that almost everyone I talked to wants to visit but doesn’t often get to... kind of like Australia. People know vague things about it: eg. that Iceland is actually green and Greenland is covered in ice ... read more
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife" Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice Ahhh tis a few weeks now since I was last in correspondence with you all regarding my tales of travel and adventure. I have actually traversed five countries and stayed in nine cities but that is all to be spoken about later (and the way I´ve been going it will more likely be later than sooner...). Our attentions at the minute must be directed to the union of Ms Erica Donner and Mr James Posnett on the afternoon of the 28th of July 2006. But lets start at the beginning...well at the beginning of the week anyway. A few days after arriving back in London from Iceland, I ... read more
