I am a 20 year old college student studying abroad in Barcelona and traveling Europe for the summer. I'll be seeing many parts of Spain, France, Italy, and England! I will be in Europe for a total of about 2 months....but will only come home when I run out of money!

Roman holiday

 Europe » Italy » Lazio » Rome
More observations: All McDonalds are not equal- different countries equals different menu All keyboards are not equal- I spend 10 minutes trying to find the @ symbol in every country All metros are not equal- they range from bad, to worse, to worst My Roman holiday has been incredible!!! The first night I got here, I hung out at the hostel. It's not really a hostel as much as a village. It's called Camping Roma Village and it has space for 1000 people, with camping spaces, bungalows, and chalets. Theres a huge pool, a bar, dance club, supermarket, computer room, ect. So, to say the least, London was incredible! Unfortunately, I was only there for 48 hours, but at the same time, if I had been there any longer I would have absolutely no money left. It was the most expensive city ever! And it doesn’t help that our dollar is worth 50 cents in pounds. I thought…well if something in the US costs 10 dollars, then in London it will probably cost 5, making it even. But no, it still would cost 10, meaning we have to pay “double” when using the US dollar. So frustrating! But..about the trip. I flew [View Full Entry]

So this is getting really sad. I took my final exam today and I am finally done with the 6 hour a day summer school! But at the same time, I had to say goodbye to the friends I’ve made here. I’m really going to miss them. I am overwhelmed with the thought of packing up my entire room and taking only a small bag with me to London and Rome. This should be interesting. I plan on packing most of my things tonight so I can spend my last day tomorrow seeing things I haven’t seen yet. I know it’s [View Full Entry]

So this entry is long overdue. I’ve been really slacking with the blog writing because I never have time, and when I do, I end up on facebook or distracted by something. Since I don’t want this to be 10 pages long, I will sort of sum up the last 2 weeks as briefly as possible (will still be long though). 2 weeks ago I went to Carcasonne, France. It is in the south of France, just north of the mountains. As you’ve seen in my pix, it was beautiful. I ended up going alone because Valerie couldn’t get a return [View Full Entry]

So I just had one of the weirdest experiences ever. First…it starts out normal. I was waiting at the bus stop when a lady came up to me and asked me in Spanish if I knew when bus 157 was coming. I told her (in Spanish) that I was waiting for that bus too because I take it every day and that it should be there within 10 minutes. We proceeded to have a small chat about where the buses go and I felt really cool because I was telling a Spanish lady how to take the bus and I’m American [View Full Entry]

Hola amigos! Sorry that I haven’t written in the last few days. I’ve been really busy. Basically..this week has just been the usual. Been late to class everyday, running errands and shopping in the afternoon. I haven’t written yet about Costa Brava so I’ll do that first. Last weekend, ISA took us to Costa Brava. The first thing we did was visit the Ampurias ruins. The ruins were both ancient Greek and Roman cities from around 600 BC. It was beautiful out there. Costa Brava is the part of Spain that lies on the coast where the Pyrenees meet the ocean. [View Full Entry]

This is a map of Spain for those of you who have no idea where the places I'm talking about are located.
What a great week! I had my midterm last Monday in my grammar class. Of course, I set my alarm to get up early so I could study and get to class on time, but like my typical self, it didn’t work out. The test started at 9, but I didn’t actually wake up til 9:10. I frantically thew on clothes and ran downstairs. I knew it was too late to take the metro so I asked the receptionist to call me a taxi. She called but a taxi wouldn’t be there to get me for 10-15 mintues. I knew I [View Full Entry]

So it’s been another few great days in Barcelona. Before I tell you about my trip, there’s a few things I want to mention since a lot of you (my friends) will be studying abroad at some point in the near future. 1) Theft here is a really big problem. Already 3 girls in our group have had their bags stolen and one girl was followed home. When on the metro, it’s REALLY important not to stick out as a loud American tourist. I only speak in Spanish, if I even speak at all. This is not to say that Spain’s [View Full Entry]

Hola again! Wow..so the last few days here have been really busy. I’m all settled into Barcelona and love it! I feel like I’ve lived here for ever. The metro system is how we all get around and it’s so easy to use. I have been walking more than I ever have in my life. At least a few miles a day. I’m exhausted n my feet r all blistered but I’m so happy here. Since I haven’t written much about Barcelona yet, I’ll give you an overview of my week so far. On Monday, I took a placement test for [View Full Entry]

Hola! Me gusta mucho esté país y las personas en mi grupo. La primera parte de mi viaje fue increíble. I got into Madrid on Tuesday morning. I’ve never been so hot and tired in my life. I was carrying a huge duffel, a smaller one, and 3 carry ons. My luggage when stacked was taller than me. After finally meeting up with the group, we took a bus to our hotel in Madrid. It was located right on one of the main streets of Madrid. Madrid is a HUGE city. It sort of reminds me of a more pretty version [View Full Entry]
