I was looking on the seadragon website, seeing if you put up those pics of that massive turtle we saw when i found this page. Awesome pics. Perhentians were awesome. |
| 26th June 2007 CanadianViking | Second hand smoke - From: Back on the Road Again Alcohol and fatty foods I can agree with, but tobacco and marijuana cause second hand smoke, which is almost as bad as actually smoking a joint. |
| 22nd June 2007 Your mum | Hempstead in the wet - From: Diving, Diving, Diving Hi Ali you sound quite world and fun weary just think about Hempstead in the wet and IJ'm sure it will give you ideas about where you don't want to go! Mum |

| 21st June 2007 Della | Thought you were dead... - From: Diving, Diving, Diving Thanks for the update. I was wondering when your next travelblog post was coming. Glad to hear that you're alive and well diving in SE Asia (no surprise there). Keep posting pics. As I sit here bored to death at work, it's nice to know that people are actually out living their lives - even though it makes me think, "This time last year I was doing.... in instead of sitting at my computer in Toronto." Safe travels. |
| 21st June 2007 Jeanette | I'm very jealous!!! - From: Diving, Diving, Diving Fantastic seahorse photos. Have you thought about Khao Lak, Thailand - since the Tsunami there has ben a huge effort to rebuild the tourist industry and you'll have the Semilian islands just a boat trip away. |
| 21st June 2007 Eva | very colourful - From: Diving, Diving, Diving Your photos are AMAZING to say the least!! You definitely have an eye for underwater photography. I've been to the Perhentian Islands twice before, and dived there, and I must say it is one of my favourite places I have ever visited. I only have an advanced certificate, so I certainly cannot match your 300 dives, but I still enjoy diving (even if London doesn't really offer much of it, hehe!). I have attampted underwater photography, mainly as part of my advanced open water course, but also on my own, but I find it extremely hard to take good pics (the light, having a steady hand, predicting if/when the object is going to move, etc). Is it your own camera, and if so, what sort do you use? Good luck finding another place like the Perhentians, I've searched and still haven't found it...... Eva |
| 21st June 2007 Ievy | - From: Diving, Diving, Diving Ali, I'm planning a few days in the Perhentians end of july. I don't suppose you'd still be there ? Shame, could use a dive buddy :-) Love the photos. Keep it up xx |
| 21st June 2007 Ali | Sucky Internet... - From: Diving, Diving, Diving It's better than last year - but yes - it sucks! - Wifi at Bubu's longbeach makes it a little easier - but it costs more than my room :) |
| 21st June 2007 judy | - From: Diving, Diving, Diving hey, i thought the internet connection sucks on perhentian. where are you staying this time? |
| 6th June 2007 ismael alberto zarate | ahtopol divino - From: Ahtopol, Black Sea Beach AHTOPOL ES LA CIUDADA QUE MAS ME GUSTO. SOY ARGENTINO HINCHA DE MARADONA. SALUDOS |
| 6th June 2007 Ali | Freedoms... - From: Back on the Road Again As with consuming alcohol, smoking tobacco, eating fatty foods - they are all detrimental to health - my position is that if it doesn't harm others - then informed consent should be respected. |
| 5th June 2007 Anna | marijuana - From: Back on the Road Again Marijuana is a form of cannabis and has recently been proven to cause minor brain damage leading to early memory loss and dementia. Just thought you might want to know before supporting everyone's right to smoke it. |
| 11th May 2007 Cynthia | Inspiration - From: I am a divemaster! (least for a little while) Your photographs are FANTASTIC! With each picture I felt as if I was there. I design jewelry as a hobby and your pictures have definitly inspired me to mix some never before seen colors. God's Speed Pilgrim on your journey through life. May the wind be always at your back. | 9th May 2007 Leo | Wireless network access - From: Thessaloniki Trauma This is a rather old article, although most of the things may be as discribed above. Today, Thessaloniki has one of the largest city-wifi network in Greece which is interconnected to other cities and there are many wireless nodes that provide free internet access in public places. have a look at: wind.twmn.net maps ps.: next time, visit some new things... like the largest mall in Greece: http://www.mediterraneancosmos.gr/ and Chalkidiki beaches ;) http://www.in-chalkidiki.com/ |

| 12th April 2007 DM | - From: Latvia You can not buy the gun in Latvia without being citizen and having a special permission. You can only buy gas gun (blank firing loaded with tear gas) if you are 18 years old, and that was what you've seen. Obviously you don't need a shooting range for gas guns. You could also buy a soft air pneumatic weapon for the same price, but it can not be used for self defense. Gas gun costs from about 35 GBP to 300 GBP while real guns may cost 350 GBP and more. What you've called "A church" is in fact Russian Orthodox Christian cathedral, orthodox Christianity is not the main religion in Latvia, the #1 are Lutherans and you can see a big Lutheran church in the picture you called "Old Town". Also a factual error - there are only 0.9 million people live in Riga. And with 2.5 million of total country population it really looks big. The fact you've visited the museum of occupation is funny. It was a real waste of your time. There is a small museum in the heart of Riga (inside the Dome Cathedral) where you could see really interesting things. It is called "Museum of history and maritime" if I remember right. Visit it when you'll get old and will go on your final world tour. For your information, museums of occupation are pieces of cold war between countries. In Latvia and Ukraine such museum shows fantasies about Russian monsters. In Northern Ireland this could be a grief story about English atrocities. I believe every weak nation must have such museum. But it's just my humble opinion :) |

| 19th February 2007 James Jackman | Memories of a great day - From: Volcano Climbing Lombok Style I my self have climbed this volcano back in 1992/93 when I was with my parents, we started climbing the volcano around Eight o’clock and reached the summit around dawn in time for breakfast the views where spectacular!!!! And it was definitely something I will never forget, we went up the volcano with an experienced guide/sharper anyway glad to here that your expedition went equally as well although we only had 1/2 days on the volcano. I am now 26 years old/young at the time we summated the volcano I would have been 12/13 years old, the experience is definitely something you just have to experience for your self to believe.
