| 8th November 2007 Chezz | Wicked! - From: Diving Around Sipadan, Sibuan, Mabul and Kapali Your photos are really amazing. If you are heading to the peninsular, the diving at the Perenthian islands is also amazing, the best place that I have dived. Keep taking great photos and enjoy your travels. X |
| 8th November 2007 capsfan2002 | Photos - From: Diving Around Sipadan, Sibuan, Mabul and Kapali I do so love your underwater photos. Seems all I do is rate them with 5s! |
| 7th November 2007 kdk | So envious! - From: Diving Around Sipadan, Sibuan, Mabul and Kapali Sipadan was the most amazing place i've ever been diving! I've just been to the Great Barrier reef, and it doesn't even compare! Is there anywhere as beautiful as Sipadan or is everything after Sipadan bound to be a bit of a disappointment? |
| 7th November 2007 sprucemoose | It's like another world down there! - From: Diving Around Sipadan, Sibuan, Mabul and Kapali Mate your photos are sooooo cool! You've single handedly made me want to learn scuba diving. Is it hard to learn? It seems totally worth it :) |
| 7th November 2007 Patti | Love your photos! - From: Diving Around Sipadan, Sibuan, Mabul and Kapali Hi Ali. I just love your photos. They seem to be getting better and better. Keep up the good work on this site. How long are you going to be in Rio? Stay safe. |
| 7th November 2007 Stephen Paul | Upping the Ante? - From: Diving Around Sipadan, Sibuan, Mabul and Kapali Wow Ali, you've really outdone yourself this time! Seemingly every picture on the first page is a 5/5 for me. I LOVE those cuttlefish!!! It must be hard to spend so long down there taking pictures... I mean hard to come back up! You're obviously in the zone underwater, becoming one with egg laying cuttlefish.. :) |
| 5th November 2007 Lauren | thanks - From: Muck Diving in the Lembeh Straits, Sulawesi Thanks for the photos and travelblog...I dream of going to Lembeh some day for the muck diving...can't wait! |
| 26th October 2007 Ali | Hey Addie - From: And then my hostel burned down... Don't be ashamed to be Malaysian - it's a great country with so many great people - but like everywhere it has it's problems - at least Malaysia didn't invade another country lying to it's own people in order to justify it's greed for oil - USA, UK and others... puts these things into perspective. |
| 26th October 2007 Addie | hi ali - From: And then my hostel burned down... i just read this entry today... and thank god that u and others are still in one piece... what can i say? in this case (and many others) i wont be hesitant to say that im ashame to be a Malaysian. the authorities seem to have the mentality where they'll only buck up when things happen!! sad to say that sometimes even, nothing's being done at all!! few days in the news and that's it - sooner or later it will be forgotten... im sorry u get this in KL. hope ur journey down the road will be a much better one... safe trip! |
| 24th October 2007 Vince | Just Love Prague - From: Jewel in the Czech Crown I just love your pictures. Prague is my favorite city and I just love the Charles Bridge at any time of the day. |
| 23rd October 2007 Cleo | Love the photos - From: Muck Diving in the Lembeh Straits, Sulawesi Hey Ali, Looks like an amazing place to dive. I think the Dragonnet photo is one of your best. x |
| 22nd October 2007 Adrrian | Beautiful pictures - From: ¡Viva Cuenca! I consider myself (as an Ecuadorian who moved to New York 14 years ago, I'm 27) not a patriotic individual, however after watching the pictures you took from Cuenca, my hometown, I have to tell you that they filled my heart with Nostalgia. specially the ones of the children. I had a Vuja De, (the opposite of a Deja Vu) I remember myself being part of such festivities as a child. November third, we celebrate the Indepencence of Cuenca, and if you thought that that was a colorful festival, and if you have a chance, go back during Christmas season, where there are numerous parades dedicated to the birth of Christ. It is an amazing cultural spectacle. Take care |
| 18th October 2007 Ali | From Coban... - From: Semuc Champey Sorry - you are right I left out that important bit of information - most people base themselves in Coban - like I did - while exploring this region. |
| 17th October 2007 Loretta | From where? - From: Semuc Champey I'd like to follow these directions to get to Chemuc Champey but you didn't mention where you were coming from. The intersection is mentionned but not the city/town. |

| 27th August 2007 Erik 2006 | - From: Muck Diving in the Lembeh Straits, Sulawesi Nice photos, Ali. I dived off Bunaken in June and loved it! Good to see that someone else has a passion for nudibranches. You should try diving in PNG! Erik |
| 26th August 2007 Stephen Paul | Holy Cow! - From: Muck Diving in the Lembeh Straits, Sulawesi The first three photos in this post are the best I've seen on travelblog for sometime! The rest read like a who's who in Sulawesi. Fantastic blog! |
| 24th August 2007 Abe | Been there it was wonderful - From: Diving Sulawesi - Bunaken Allstair, I stayed on Bunaken Island in 1998, it was the best snorkeling experience I've ever had. I love the island. Too bad it's so close to Manado, you know it's going to be ruined soon by overpopulation. The other islands are good too though. |
| 24th August 2007 Ali | Yes - it was close to Manado - From: Diving Sulawesi - Bunaken I did see a lot of trash washing up on the shores of Bunaken - and the odd plastic bag while diving! I don't know if it is improving or not - but I was happy enough diving there :) Thanks for the tip on Togian islands - unfortunately I'm in KL now, given the chance I'll go back to Sulawesi. |
| 24th August 2007 aspiringnomad | Let the marine biologists debate... - From: Diving Sulawesi - Bunaken The Place you seek is the Togian Islands. I hope you are still in Sulawesi so you can head down there. I won't go into too much detail now, let it be our secret;-) Also the islands around komodo and east of Flores will bring you to some of the least disturbed and magical dive spots in the world. In my humble opinion Bunaken was (at least 10 years ago) too popular and alas too close the big City of Manado and it's big dirty river. There used to be a joke doing the rounds back then to ask people who went to Bunaken if they saw the plastic bag fish? How is it now, have they cleaned up their act? Happy travels P.S. And commendation on a noble recovery from the August 2007 crash! |
| 24th August 2007 josworld | Underwater Trekky - From: Diving Sulawesi - Bunaken Nice Star Trek catch phrase :>....Your marine life photos always fascinate me....keep up the good work !....Cheers ! |

| 22nd August 2007 TeamTurner | Great Pictures - From: Diving Sulawesi - Bunaken Ali, Great pictures, you should consider trying to sell a few of them as stock photography. If I could give any advice it would be to watch your depth of field, but I'm not sure if that's easy to do underwater. Otherwise, some of those pictures are amazing! Michael Turner (www.mytb.org/TeamTurner) |
| 22nd August 2007 Robert Watters | More brill. fish pics! - From: Diving Sulawesi - Bunaken H Ali, more brilliant fish pictures! It's a pity they don't pay to have their portraits taken. Dad |

| 20th August 2007 Ali | Update - From: And then my hostel burned down... Turns out the locked doors were latched from the inside - if the couple had known where to look they could have used it. Everyone is OK - no reports of injuries. The hostel will not reopen. I wrote the blog entry about 4 hours after the events - so I'll leave it as is. I slept well last night - despite being in a very similar hostel two blocks away :) |

| 9th August 2007 anonymous | - From: Thessaloniki Trauma I have lived in Thessaloniki for three years and agree with the author. People--if they don't know you--are beyond rude. I even had a woman walk off in a huff once when my attempt to answer her request for directions in halting Greek was too slow for her. Definately an ugly city with an ugly dog-eat-dog mentality. |
