Hello to all and welcome 2008!!! Hope that everyone enjoyed xmas and had a fab new year. Mine was very..erm...DIFFERENT!! FYI - i did manage to convince Di into having a roast dinner on xmas day but somehow i ended up cooking it with Diane... not very nice stood in a kitchen over boiling veggies when it is 28 degrees!!! By the time we got to eat i wasn't hungry anymore!! Anyway all in all it was a good day. Andy arrived on NYE which was brilliant timing! We celebrated the New Year in at one of Diane's friends...it was a very drunken night... we ended up in the swimming pool (majority of us in the clothes we were wearing!) at 1am!! Very different to the UK NYEs i have experienced!! Since Andy has arrived we ... read more

Hello to all!! Well looks like it's that time again for another update from down under and haven't i been busy! i have had a hire car over the last few weeks so i have been able to get out and about and do some exploring on my own rather than rely on Di and Alan for lifts everywhere!! It's not too bad driving as it is on the same side as UK but the drivers over here are a little bit more crazy!! While out venturing i have explored further down the gold coast and visited a couple of different beaches. Been to Coolengatta and Palm Beach which were both LOVELY! it was so nice to go into the water and not get frost bite! Although not sure i like the idea of sharing the ... read more
Hello to all!!! Well we finally had our first visitor in Diane's house... a MASSIVE wolf spider!!! I went to dry my hands on the towel and the thing ran at me - it could smell my fear :) We had to call Diane's husband to come and catch it. I was quite surprised that it didn't run away from us as we were screaming so much! i have got a picture of it but can't get it onto the PC so will show you all when i get back so you can see how big it was!! I have been into Brisbane City a few times which is situated across from a river, the views are really nice as long as it is a nice day. It has been a bit touch and go the ... read more
Hello everyone... well apologies on the delay of the photos but have been a little bit busy! i have ventured out to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary which was a brilliant place. The amount of wildlife just strolling round the parks was unbelievable! Everywhere you go the are so many lizards and geckos just wandering around.. pretty surreal! I was lucky enough to hold a koala called wilbur... he was lovely and cute... until he decided to go to the toilet on my hand. Didn't think he was so cute then!! :) We saw so much wildlife like kangaroos, birds, dingo's, crodiles and so much more. I have added some piccies for your enjoyment!!! Not trying to make you jealous or anything!! Talk again soon! Alena xx ... read more
Hello to all, Well I have finally made it to the land of Oz...after a LONG journey!! Got here at 12.30 local time Tuesday, once I got over the excitement of seeing Diane I had a hard job of fighting jet lag! Gave in about 6pm and slept until 4am when I was wide awake!! Today has been the first sunny day since I arrived... my face was a picture when i got off the plane - I was like 'WHERE'S THE SUN!!!???' - everyone here has been praying for rain (they should got to the UK!) Been into Brisbane City and did some shopping... it was like London... so hectic and fast paced but shops are great!! Also went over the Bribane River which was really nice (forgot camera but won't next time :)) Not ... read more
Well... where do I start! For those of you that don't know I have got 2 weeks till I head out to Oz, not that you wouldn't know because it is pretty much ALL I have been talking about! Can't believe how quickly this has come around... feels like yesterday I had booked my flight and had about 35 weeks to go! Hopefully my time away won't go so quickly. I know most of you are going to want me to make you sooo jealous with the pics so I will continue to update this blog while I am away... Plan for me is to get some well deserved rest (Yeah right!!) there is so much i am going to have to do - shops, beaches! It's a hard life ;) Starting in Brisbane where i ... read more
