Tallinn in Twenty Photos Europe » Estonia » Tallinn By AirMail June 19th 2007 Josh & AliciaPhotos from our day trip to Tallinn's Old City. We had never previously planned to come here, until we saw the ferry trip advertised in a Finnish tourist brochure. In many ways this was the Europe we had been searching for over the last 3 months. The place was so original, untarnished, and just plain beautiful we almost felt as though had traveled back in time. It was also ironic (and a great surprise) that we ended up here on our last day in Europe. We can't think of a better way to have ended our trip to Europe!... read more

Just a word of warning... If you are not interested in architecture and don't want to see a lot of pictures of buildings then you should probably skip this blog entry! Barcelona is an incredibly fascinating city, and a great majority of the best sights are unusual buildings which are scattered throughout the city. Easily the most interesting of these buildings are those designed around the turn of the 19th century by Architect Antoni Gaudi as part of the Modernimsme architectural movement. Despite being over 100 years old, these buildings are are still quite incredible, so its amazing to think of just how groundbreaking they would have been when they were first built. But there's more to Barcelona than fancy buildings. The entire city is very pedestrian friendly and seems to have been thoughtfully designed ... read more

Visions of Venice  Europe » Italy » Venice By AirMail June 2nd 2007 Josh & AliciaFirst of all we're not dead... Just a little behind on our blog! We spent 5 nights in venice, and exhausted ourselves as we spent many hours each day walking through the old lanes and crossing the many canals! Venice was possibly more incredible than we had expected. It almost felt like we were in an artificial theme park as it was sometimes hard to believe people actually live here! For our 6 night stay in Switzerland we were based in Bern, the nation's small capital. This was a convenient place to stay, as it is located close to other places we visited on day trips. We pretty much loved everything about switzerland including the people, lakes, mountains, towns, cities, and of course the chocolate! Usually a country has some nice places and some not so nice ones, so it was amazing that wherever we went in Switzerland we always though "Wow! This place is beautiful", or something along those lines. Because of this we don't really have a highlight, or a favourie place- it was all great! ... read more

Austria proved to be a lovely place, however it was unfortunate that we struggled with our health (only a little bit) while we were here. We diagnosed ourselves with extreme hayfever, as our symptoms included itchy throat and continual sneezing. Our campground was located right next to a farmer who fiddled around with grass cuttings all day everyday. This is what we narrowed the cause down to. Despite our constant sneezing and sniffling, we managed to fully explore Salzburg's Old Town and even venture out to Werfen, where we took a tour of the Ice Caves. The Old Town was one of the nicest we have been to so far, and quite compact, so it was easy for us to walk around to all the wonderful sights. The Ice Caves, however, have to be our highlight ... read more

Here are our photos from our 2nd visit to Germany. Just like our first visit, we loved it! Munich was beautiful and we could hardly believe that we were in a big famous city, because our campsite was situated in a tranquil riverside setting, which was only 15 minutes from the centre by Metro. The Neuschwanstein Castle was easily the highlight of our stay. It was simply incredible, and Alicia especially liked it because it reminded her of Disneyland!... read more
