Our Hostel. It was out of town, but it was right next to a chocolate factory. The Outlet sold ˝Lom˝čhocolade, ie 'broken' chocolate, or seconds. Luckily I was saved by bag room issues and weight control. ie I can't have a bag that weighs too much! Aaahhh... where was I? Cause I haven't been writing for a while. But maybe the pictures will explain this. I met up with another girl, Karen, and we have been travelling together for nearly a fortnight, hopping Islands, hopping bars, generally complaining when we have to pay more than $A3 for a beer... Generally, [View Full Entry]

It was fun! honestly. We spent more time bent over the oars rowing than laughing, but hey. The guy didn't even notice we were late in... we coulda been gone a further hour, and he wouldn't've noticed.... [more]
I have been listening, for nearly the last three hours, to Bob Dylan. It is because the free internet at my hostel is right next to the bar, and alternative scene in Ljubjlana means, aparently, Bob Dylan. Or the Barman's a nut. One or the other. But I have been uploading pictures. Some of Rome, and some of Slovenia to Flickr. Sadly, I ran out of upload bandwidth. Grrr... I should be more selective, I suppose. And I've edited previous entries, to include more photos. I will do this continually, as my patience increase [View Full Entry]

Ah, the first, --and most ignored--, words of Italian I learnt in Italy. Actually, now I can say that I have truly rounded my knowledge of Italian Nouns. I have fifty or so for dining out, still my five medical words (does capella count?), and now I know about a hundred to do with religious icons. Round up of Italy: If I see another mediaval fresco of Madonna Col Bambino, I will scream. The Grotta Gigante at Trieste was fun: I spent the entire time entertaining (and being entertained by) a six year old girl who wouldn't shut up. I [View Full Entry]

Ok. Windows Unexpectedly closed, and I just lost about an A4 page of writing. But that's probably a good thing, as far as you're concerned. summary: Milano: Nasty, dirty city, didn't much like. Verry Hassley. Get the impression that there is a large gap between the rich and the poor. Il Duomo was impressive. Pity we felt we had to stop looking at it every few seconds to make sure we weren't being pick-pocketed. Ended up in Padova that night: backtracked because nothing is open on a Monday morning in Verona. The Chiesa with the Giotto frescos is amazing (good [View Full Entry]

To say that I still can't download any of my photos, to show you all :( But I have been in Genova since Wednesday, and I have had a great time. I met some wonderful people, Vilija has been sooo lucky to have met such nice people here. The Hen's night was a Blast, meeting all these people, and having a Turkish Hammam (not that much like the one in Morocco, I'm afraid. More Gentile. I am learning, slowly, more Italian. Just enough to get me through, I think. I have seen most of what there is to see in [View Full Entry]

Oh yes, absolutely crazy. That about sums it all up. Firstly, I will apologise for the lack of pictures. I will make it up when I am on a computer that wasnàt built before the last Ice Age. Still, it has fast interent, and that's all one asks for. and I am conquering the Italiano keytboard. I just have to remember that the " ' " and all the alt- number keys are different. Ummm... that's what they'll all be. Heh.
Well... After that, I was barely home one minute, then I was off again (actually, I was home a tad under twenty-four hours: in Saturday night, out again Sunday Afternoon). This time I was heading up the North Coast, to Grand old Taree. I have a love-hate relationship with Taree. I love the hospital, I love working there, I love the people, I love how you can be totally out-of-your-depth, yet not so much that you can't rise to the challenge. But I hate that it is three hours from home (two-forty if you're in a hurry, or it's later [View Full Entry]

These rightly belong with the last post, but, what the hey.
Well, After the Grand Tour of Uluru, the rest of my time is, in tourism terms, a bit of a slow, soft let down. I didn't leave the township much after that weekend. The evenings were taken up with various extracurriular activities with the rest of the hospital staff. On Thursdays, for instance, was Carvery: The local Memorial Club 9affectionately known as The Memo) put on a Carvery for $10, which was a fair amount of meat, and all you could eat of the associated vegetables. And good company. Fridays was Karaoke Night. The following weekend, I'd had a big [View Full Entry]

FRIDAY 16TH MARCH Parents and Aunty Mandy came this day. In typical style, my phone wasn’t working, so I didn’t get their call to say they had landed… oh, yes, that’s right, they didn’t call. If they had, I would’ve reminded them to go to Standley Chasm frst, as it is the one that closes. So they trundled off to see the West Macs, just like I had… and took some great photos. I am unashamedly using said shots intermixed with my own in this post, just so you know… …I had a pool party to go to that afternoon, [View Full Entry]
