Oh Madrid.Scene of the infamous Grahame. The Donde effect. Filling your noughart with pappadums. Canyas and tapas. BslashRy. Tiky Taka. Loosing photos AND your dignity all in the same day.Sound cryptic You're not alone. Unless your name is Kellie Urqhuart you probably won't understand much of what's written above but that's ok.Just look at the pretty pictures instead...And to do that you'll

I wish I could tell you something about Barcelona. But I spent only two days there and one of them was sleeping. I blame my landlord who I'd lucked upon the previous night as I searched for accommodation in a local internet cafe sensing a theme here Prebooking accommodation has not been my strong point. He was offering rooms for rent I was looking... and well Juan's your uncle.A night at

Bending time

As a virgin to Spanish soil I had anticipated this moment for many a long hour. What would Spain look like taste like smell like People from all over had crowded my vision with their own anecdotes and feelings and the pre fabricated images of a lazy siestaing country were at the forefront of my remarkabley unvivid imagination. I was feeling a bit lost about the whole thing. And then I arriv

Strangely enough these three uneventful days rate among the best I have had so far.Feeling adventurous and fit read despereate to get out of Eger and a looming marriage I sauntered further east to Szilvsvrad namely the Szalajka Valley.I was nervously eyeing the growling grey grimacing sky and inwardly self affirming not into prayer that today it would not rain Why I hear you ask s

Feeling a call to nature during my Budapest onlsaught I packed up for a few days and headed north east.A tip off from a Canadian friend and a burgeoning problem with alcoholism meant I was very keen to check out the wine growing region of Eger.Tantalisingly known as The Valley of the Beautiful Women I'd heard tall tales and true about this magnificent experience this must be sampled glimpse o

You know when you meet someone and you just like them straight awayYou're not sure why and you feel a bit silly but it's like... like... it's been that way forever. That was what I felt when I met Cesar and Angel.Peruvian born Cesar can turn a mean card trick and Dominican Republic born Angel is well practised at feigning ignorance. I'll admit I was curious but fancying myself as a street wi

Q Could I live in Europe

A I could if I lived hereJust to get this off on the right foot let's clear up the pronunciation. BOODAPESHT. Official terminology kids. And officially this city kicks arse. Sitting snugly in the top three European cities I have been lucky enough to cruise around in Budapest felt good from the moment I stepped onto that wicked old style train. Seriously it was like a Bakerlite toaster. Pain

No not Greased Lighting.Electric Ladyland the awfully fun place I spent a few hours trying to avoid the almost oppressive requirement of every tourist under 30 which I still was... sigh to be chinese eyed in a coffee shop somewhere.Amsterdam is definitely a place best visited with friends. Although Boonie knew a few crew I just couldn't get into the spirit... it felt a bit... forced Like

A dream time in a fairy tale town

I was lucky enough to be visiting some friends I'd met in Slovakia though why everyone sniggers when I tell them I was staying with a manager at Dutch customs I'll never know.Several day trips to Maastricht Eindhoven and a crazy night at a Johnny Winter blues concert were highlights.Jos Thom Kiki and Zuzana I'm forever indebted to your generosity your good humour and your amazing ability

If you ain't Dutch you ain't much

Actually truth is If you ain't Dutch you're likely to be somewhat unattractive and probably uptight. We've all heard about what goes on this country let's not dwell. But JOISUS. A spunkier race of people doesn't exist. They rival the guys and gals of Slovenia that's for sure.Incredibly well dressed fit environmentally friendly people I'm not convinced there's no genetic engineering going

It was definitely a day for laughing. And crying.I can't really recount it all here it just doesn't work that way.But I do know that when Boonie and I found ourselves on the way home on the train at ten pm devouring mini bottles of Vodka from the train dining cart it had been one of my better days out.So the significance of holding the rod Sorry it's not as dirty as you'd like to think it is.
A nice place to get lost

I've never felt so happy being lonely than I did in Krakow.I found this heartland of Polish religious and cultural significance to be a place that definitely requires some serious digging to get to the good stuff. It's not immediately evident unless you count the towering Wawel Castle the picture perfect architecture and rambling alleyways of the old town or the kinda bohemian lokey atmosphere
