The 10 hour train ride from Melbourne to Sydney didn't not feel that long at all. It's prolly cuz the first five was spent catching up on the gos with Laura. We managed to get into Central Sydney station and take the double decker Sydney subway train into King's Cross where we stayed at a backpacker's hostel called the Jolly Swagman. King's Cross is infamous for two things: backpackers and nightlife. The streets are lined up with strip joints and prostitutes, along with bars, clubs, street vendors and the homeless. The culture is great and Laura and I were glad that [View Full Entry]

The Rip Curl Pro surf competition started on April 10th. It is held every year at Belle's Beach which is in Torquay.. it was also born there in the early 60's. Torquay is also known as one of the best surf coast's in the world!! So if surfer boys are what you are into, this is the place. Torquay is only a 20 minute bus ride away from Geelong so its very convenient, we have spent many weekends just escaping to the beach in order to laze the hot Aussie days away. These days though the temperature is declining at a [View Full Entry]

Geelong is a small town.. well the "town" is pretty small and its where most of the businesses are located, along with the numerous bars and clubs. The rest of Geelong is just residential areas and are known by different names known as suburbs. My school is loacted in Waurn Ponds which is about 30 minutes by bus from town, and I live in the suburb known as Belmont which is 10 mins to town by bus. So the reason Geelong seems so small is because the actual entertainment area is pretty compressed which is actually kind of neat as well [View Full Entry]

This was my second time going out in Melbourne. The first time was a few weeks ago and I had gone to the city with my friend Carly to attend a going away dinner for her friend who was leaving Oz to travel in England. We ended up getting drinks at a nice little bar/restaurant called Portland something which was on Lt Colins road & Russell. The bartender was very friendly... well most of them are as soon as they hear my Canadian accent. After we were all filled up with a good amount of alcohol we headed to Crown casino [View Full Entry]

I spent an amazing weekend in Lorne with the 12 other Canadian students that are also in my teaching program at Deakin Uni. It turned out to be non-stop partying, as usual. It's what Australians do best, and it has definetly started to rub off on me. We got to Lorne Friday evening. We stayed in hill top cottages which were super nice for the price we paid. Carly, Tracy and I (the roomates) were together in a cottage. Tracy got the queen on the main floor while Carly and I got the beds in the FORT! Ok, it's not really [View Full Entry]

After being home for 3 and a bit months, I was more than ready to leave again for another adventure. I love Toronto with all my heart but right now I'm not ready to settle without seeing the rest of the beauty that surrounds it. I have been in Geelong for a month now.. I don't think much people come here for vacations because it's a smaller city, although it is the second biggest city in Victoria, with Melbourne being the biggest. The only reason I am here is for school.. i attend Deakin University in a small suburb of Geelong [View Full Entry]

All good things must come to an end... at least temporarily. I am back in Toronto....but I'm glad to be here. Its wierd how prideful I am of being Canadian..as I was landing today I felt so connected when I saw Canada below me. I have such a strong bond to this city.. nothing can ever replace home. And I think travelling really makes you appreciate your home for what it is. As much as travelling is an eye opener to discovering new cultures and people, it also makes you see the little things that you take advantage of in your [View Full Entry]

I made it to Stuttgart late last night. Rajan uncle picked me up at the station. I met some cool dudes on the trainover from Paris that were in the French Army. They didn't know enough English but I knew they were fighting over which one got to talk to me which was cute. They pretty much took care of me till I got to Strasbourg. One of them was originalyl from Tahiti and looked very exotic. I love the French accent and their struggle to speak English, it's hella cute. The train to Stuttgart took abour 8 hours. I got [View Full Entry]

What is with the guys in Paris? Have they never seen a brown girl before? There are plenty of them, so why the hell do they stare as if they are at a zoo?!?!? I have been hit on by so many random guys that its disgusting. Well, at least they I know there is plenty of confidence in the air in Paris. Friday was awesome! I finally made it to the Eiffel tower and took loads of pics. I tried to find Notre Dame but ended up somehow at Saint Chapelle.. and then I was too tired to try because [View Full Entry]

Today I went to the Lovre. I have mastered the Metro in Paris and it is amazing! They have like 15 different lines so its super efficent as well as very easy to use, even for a tourist. I think this might be the most effective public transportation system in the world.. hands down! The Louvre is beautiful. Damn it, everything in Paris is beautiful!!! I saw the Mona Lisa and the Venus di Milo. I also took tons and tons of pics. I loved it!!! Reading the DaVinci Code helped, I notice all the places that were mentioned. I walked [View Full Entry]
