| 14th August 2008 Adventures in China | Street Vendors have Disappeared - From: Countdown to the Olympics: 0 DAYS! ...I haven't seen a single street vendor since I've come back. I wonder where they went (note the sarcastic question where I actually know the answer but can't say it). Anyways, I'll keep looking but I haven't found them yet and it's pretty doubtful at this point with the Olympics.......... |
| 12th August 2008 Ian | Important - From: Countdown to the Olympics: 0 DAYS! Don't forget the laser pointer. |
| 9th August 2008 Nita chevalier | Beijing - From: Countdown to the Olympics: 0 DAYS! Sounds so interesting to read your comments about Beijings sings etc. at the beginning of the Olympics. I try to watch when i can and the opening last night on TV was truly spectacular. If only the world could be so joyful instead of going to war etc. Am proud that you have been able to spend the summer and see so much of China. And now the Olympics!! Hurrah for You.... |

| 5th June 2008 Adventures in China | I was thinking more like the 1790's..... - From: Life as a Chinese Student...ok, a student in China. haha totally kidding! Hey Mrs. P! Ofcourse I don't mind you sharing them (as long as it's not like, the "bash on Lauren Brunton" club or something...then it'd just be awkward haha). When I get back, we should chat about your experience in China. Everyone keeps telling me how much it's changed in the past 4 years alone; it's crazy. At the rate they are building up now though, I could come back 2 years from now and a lot would be very different. |
| 4th June 2008 Mrs. P | - From: Life as a Chinese Student...ok, a student in China. I hope you don't mind but I have been sharing some of your blogs with the social science department. I was in china in the 90's, (that is 1990's not the 1890's). It sounds so much nicer now; especially the food. Enjoy the time you have left. I have been able to visit China through your eyes. Mrs. P. |

As for work, I'm the Olympic Events Coordinator for an Australian Company this summer. So, I'm managing everything that they have going on for that time. Essentially, I work with Australia, China, and the United States corporations and governments and try to pull everything together. Send me your address; I'll send you my business card haha. I can give you more details through email if you'd like! |

Your apartment nice. I saw the peanut butter on the shelves in your dorm room. I saw your soccer field where you played. I'm proud of you, BUT, I have now read the blog three times. I didn't see anything about GRADES. Love Dad. |

Xi'An was great and no, I didn't pray in the temples just in case I don't make it back! I can't believe I forgot to talk about food. The food was great. My friends and I made sure to try the Paomo and ofcourse, it was amazing. We don't get that in Beijing, or atleast I haven't found it yet. |

| 9th April 2008 Tim | Kentucky Fried Fan Dancing - From: Xi'An: The Root of Chinese Culture I love how the "Fancing" is being done in front of a KFC. Their new slogan should be, "KFC, the true cultural melting pot". |
| 7th April 2008 HeatherMcCauley | Thanks Lauren! - From: Peking Opera and Acrobats Thanks for keeping this blog up - I love reading about what you are doing, since the odds of my ever traveling to China are near zilch, and this way I can see it all through your eyes. The food, the potties, the significance of the fish head looking at the most important dinner guest, the ice sculptures... Would love to hear about your classes, what school is like, typical day (like are you getting up at 5 am to exercise and as is the custom?) etc. BTW, I am your cousin, Lauren, although Bob and Carol think you will remember me I'm not so sure as we haven't even made it as far as Chicago, never mind China. |
| 20th March 2008 Adventures in China | ...wow... - From: Bringing Two Worlds Together Through Baseball See, now, this is what I get for writing these things late at night. I'm TRYING to keep everyone up-to-date with what I'm doing so I write them after I've studied Chinese for hours on end.....stupid English.... my bad. I would just like to say, I was probably wishing that I had a couch at the time that I wrote "couch" rather than "coach." Thank you. |
| 20th March 2008 Dad | Coach Couch - From: Bringing Two Worlds Together Through Baseball Everyone is asking me the same question. Was it the Dodgers or Padres coach that was named Couch? Which one did you ask to, "Put me in Couch?" |

Keep up your studies and keep the info and pics coming! You are amazing! |

| 22nd February 2008 Nita Chevalier | Picture taking 1982 - From: The "Forbidden" City...full of tourists When I was in China in 1982 i took a polaroid camera and when i took pictures of the chinese families or children, they stood around and watched the picture develop right then and there. They always were thrilled to see the pictures come alive. I gave them the picture to keep. It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. Glad you are having this opportunity in your life. |
