| 22nd November 2009 Ange | Keep it up Miss Abby! - From: E-learning, nightlife and more thesis craziness. Sending positive thesis vibes to you! If you could reflect them back towards the 5th years, that would be awesome, too ;) We missed you at poker. I didn't have anyone to peer pressure into betting! |
| 1st November 2009 Jeff | Marathon - From: My Imporssibe Quest for Archival Information in Zambia, trouble with Air Namibia, and some interesting thoughts for the future Hi Abby, That was one marathon email. It was as though your email was embodying the phenomena you were trying to describe: the difficulty it is to do anything quickly in Africa. Just when I thought it was over, it kept going! ;) Great reading though. Wow - it is really hard to believe that you've been there for 5 months already. Seriously - didn't you just leave Toronto? Sorry to hear about the petrol shortage - and about the wallet loss - and about the barriers to research! That was one thing that I was really greatful for in Burkina - for whatever reason they had a really good network of libraries! I think it was because none of them were run by the government - they were all NGO operated. In Ottawa things are going well - we got a couple more birds: two blue masked lovebirds named Buster and Boo. They're cuties but are still quarantined in our bedroom for a few more weeks before we introduce them into the wider bird population that is taking over our apartment. Life working for the man is good too - NRCan is a good employer and working for the government is surprisingly intellectually stimulating. Good stuff going on! Well - I'll let you go at this point, keep perservering! The thesis will come together and will be great - fear not. |
| 4th September 2009 Catie | - From: A High Point Hey Abs, good script. I feel like I am there with you. Keep it coming. Love ya Catie xoxo |

| 2nd August 2009 Tori | Hope you had a good one! - From: Goodbye teenage-hood! Carrot cake with cream cheese icing?! Seriously? That's always been my favorite. I didn't know that about you... And are we both anthropologists who work in health policy? Weirder and weirder. Happy birthday, Abby - have a great year!! Love, Tori |
| 28th July 2009 Jeff | Happy... - From: Goodbye teenage-hood! Birthday! Erin and I send you happy birthday wishes! We love you! Seriously, Christmas and our birthdays were our most depressing days of our placement. Have some fun! Whoo! |
| 10th July 2009 Ange | bummer! - From: A bump in the road That is too bad! What a disappointment. Glad to hear you got a little vacation in anyway to bring your spirits up! I'm sure your mom was happy to pick up the phone at the crack of dawn. *hugs* |
| 8th July 2009 AbbyRose | Ideas - From: Happy belated Canada Day! Hi Ange, Good idea! Seriously, I might take you up on this. I'll explore some possibilities... |
| 3rd July 2009 Ange | wow - From: Happy belated Canada Day! Sounds like quite the adventure! Very cool. Let me know if you want the IDSSA to try to fundraise for a generator. That is so horrible that lives are lost due to power outages!! |
| 22nd June 2009 AbbyRose | Answers - From: Never a dull moment You know, I'm not sure why Saturday is the 'big day' Jeff...I should ask around about that. Also, yes, I have a lizard and have affectionately named him George. I'd like George a lot more if he ate the spider sometime soon though. |
| 18th June 2009 Jeff | Wow! - From: Never a dull moment Hey Abby - pretty impressive story. Way to not take any crap. Also, that is a weird social convention. What is it about Saturday's that makes them sex day in bars? Strange. Are there any Zambian house lizards to save you from Zambian spiders? That was one of my favourite parts of BF. |
| 18th June 2009 Ange | nice - From: Never a dull moment "we have big plans to rescue Hamilton from the recession" Good girl. |

| 11th June 2009 AbbyRose | my 'pad' - From: Home sweet home Ahaha, thanks Jeff. I'm liking it so far- except it appears that we have an ant problem, but I think that's fairly common here, and I doubt it'll go away. Sadly, no internet connection in said awesome pad, however, I do have it at work! Hope Ottawa is going well! |
| 10th June 2009 Jeff | Nice pad! - From: Home sweet home Hey Abby, that's pretty much all I had to say. Pretty cool, really. Better than my new apartment in Ottawa! Do you have web access there? Seems so. |
| 10th June 2009 Ange | glad to hear you're enjoying it! - From: Home sweet home I wondered why they told us to bring a stack of passport photos. I never ended up using mine so I probably would have forgotten to do it again when going away. Enjoy a fresh avocado for me! Mmm... |
| 5th June 2009 AbbyRose | - From: Alive and Well. Oh man Ange, that makes me feel a bit better. I mean, this morning, I got a whole slew of other ideas, and now I;m feeling a bit lost-unlike yesterday. This is going to be one heck of a process. |

| 28th May 2009 Jeff | You rock! - From: Almost Time To Go! Abby - you rock! Well, a little less than you would have if you hadn't lost iTunes, but you still rock! I fondly remember my three days of cultural training in Ottawa. It was, like, a few week after Erin and I got married. Glad to know that you've got an in at meeting some people in Lusaka too. It'll be great - fear not! |
