Egypt It is funny that I am in Athens right now, heading to Barcelona and reading about your trip from Israel to Egypt.
The mini Israel sounds fascinating to look at. I never heard of it.
I loved Egypt but was not able to see the inside of a pyramid on either trip. We have talked about returning.
I can just imagine the stars in the night sky as you traveled across the dessert. I think that was one of the most beautiful sights in that area of the world.
hey hey abby how r u cant wait to see u in 5th grade!hope u had lots of fun in isreal!the whole class cant wait to see u!we used to talk about how we missed u all the time!
from,
Molly!!!
Amazing! Dear Abby,
I am so envious of all of the amazing adventures you are having! It must have been thrilling to visit one of the seven wonders of the world. Your photos of Petra helped me to really feel as if I was a visitor as well. The rock formations really did resemble animals. I especially thought the burial ground rocks were stunning, the colorful layers were like a work of art. Were they marble? I remember when I first saw Fiddler on the Roof at the movie theater. I LOVED IT! I used to get all of my cousins to take on the roles of the characters so we could act it out. You are right the themes in this story are timeless and universal. I would have loved to have heard it performed in Hebrew. It must have been so moving! Thank you for your blogs, they are so informative and the photos bring your experiences to life for your friends. You are going to treasure the memories of this trip and your travel journal forever.
xoxo Mrs. Bousquet
Petra Petra means rock in Greek. Did they tell you that? The first pope was Peter or Petros. And Jesus said, "Upon this rock, I will build my church."
I have Petra high on my list of places I want to visit. Have looked up trips there several times. I am so jealous. So far, all I have are your wonderful pictures.
Camel Ride What an interesting entry. And how many of us living in the U.S. will ever actually get to ride on a camel along the ancient spice route. How lucky you are. I enjoyed your narrative and the pictures that accompanied your blog-entry. Thanks!
The Camel Ride So, were you nervous, scared when you first got on? And, especially when the camel dropped to let you off? I know I was surprised by the way mine stood up, how high I was, and how jerky the dismount was. A horse is so much easier!!
I was just reading about the spice route in my class. That travel truly impacted life in that region.
Bahai et al... Sounds like a lot of FUN activities this entry! The play, the one your dad directed, and the bubbles.
I found the pictures of the Bahai places interesting. We have a "church" if that is what they call it down the street from us. I have always wanted to know more about the faith. Wouldn't have expected it to be in Israel. I definitely will look it up. I think I told you I just finished a class on Islam. Now I can move on to another faith.
Hi Abby! Hi Abby! We loved your latest blog entries! It looks like you're still having the time of your life! Jill says you explain the theatre performances so well that we can really undrestand what is happening. Nicolette wants to know if all of the plays have been in Hebrew, including you dad's.
Now that your dad has had his play performed, are you guys going to be traveling to other countries? I know that was the original plan.
We are living in a classroom of chirping right now because Senor got several dozen crickets as a vacation present. They are good background noise for when we share our poetry and stories. They are standing on him and chirping like crazy:-)
Devon (and everyone else) thinks the bubble looks like fun and he'd like to try it. Aiden says you were lucky to do such a fun thing.
Looking forward to your next entry!
xoxo Your Class
Really fantastic picturesand commentary Hi Honey,
Your latest picturs and commentaries were facinating. Can't wait to see some of those sights. It won't be long before Aunt Marjie and I will be there. Can't wait!!!! They all left Florida a couple of hours ago. They had a real good time. The weather was beautiful and no onr got sick.
SEE YOU SOON!!!!!
Be sure and tell us all about your father's play.
Oh the stories I could tell you about scorpions.
In my class last night, we learned about the music and instruments of the peoples of that area. It would have been nice to hear it live.
Hi Abby! Hi Abby - Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions! We love your blog and especially the animal pics. The one-horned ibex looks like a unicorn/camel combo - a uni-camel:-) Anna thinks the lizard should be friends with senor. We're going to print his picture and hang it on senor's aquarium. We all laughed about the dream you had. Log cabins and laptops are a funny combination:-) Yesterday we went to Augusta - not quite the desert, but it'll have to do - we had a great time, and we think you would have loved it. It's finally getting warmer here in Maine. We're getting rain, but we have bid farewell to snow. Hopefully, for good!
Take good care, Dear Abby. We love you and hope you are very very happy!
dancing divas Hi Abby,
Wow!! You and your mom did an amazing job dancing with the Circassian dancers. How fun! I really liked their music. You must have found your visit so interesting. I am really wondering what kind of pastries you had and if you liked them????
I think the part of this blog that made me really happy is that the Circassian people keep their culture alive.

Hi, Abby!
I am really enjoying reading your blog and seeing the pictures of so many historical and interesting places in Israel. Thank you for taking the time to share them.
I tried to read the Greek on the picture of Ein Avdat. It is ancient Greek and I could sound out but have no idea what the words say.
You have some very nice pictures.
Hi Abby! Hi Abby - We all loved the video of you dancing - it looked like so much fun. We're loving getting to see Israel through the eyes of a fourth grader - YOU!
Jill says it looks like you're having fun!
Aiden S. says "We are waiting to Skype!" Nathan wants to know if it's hot there. What are the average day and night temps?
Caleb really liked to see the pigeon roosts in the cave, and we were all impressed with the cave with the carved stairs. Ryan wants to know how long it took the people to carve them.
We liked the olive press, but couldn't really figure out how it works. Do the donkeys still run it?
Melanie had a dream about you and Mrs. Morrison last night. She said you had turned into each other. (Abby taught the class and Mrs. Morrison went to Israel.) What does it all mean??? :-)
We all say HELLO to you and your family. We love you and miss you and can't wait to see you.
The Dancing One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to enjoy the music and dancing of the area. So this was very interesting for me. I am studying Islam in a class and reading about and comparing various groups. I will have to check out the Circassians.
Simialr Some of the things you are seeing are similar to those I have seen in other countries. The olive pressing wheel (Greece), the cave homes (Turkey and Greece), and the pidgeon holes (Egypt). Your pictures are tickling my memory.
Loved the video! Hi Kaye family,
I am so in awe of all of the wonderful sites you are seeing. What a wonderful experience! I couldn't believe how that fish looked like a needle or pencil swimming vertically, instead of what we are used to seeing. It almost seemed to float, like a seahorse. The video was amazing. It reminded me of the great movies you made during WOW with Jaclyn (the claymation stories). The choice of music was perfect!
ps I hope I didn't miss any blogs! I'll try to check!
Hi Abby,
I enjoyed the photo gallery and the captions you wrote about your trip to Masada. It is amazing to see the tiles still so beautiful after so many years. The ruins remind me of when I went to Mexico and saw the Mayan ruins. I kept pondering on how hard it must have been to build these structures without all of the machinery and technology we have today. I laughed when I saw the pigeon picture and why you took it! So cute! I miss you! Thank you for your great blogs!
xoxo Mrs. Bousquet
Hello from your Class! Hi Abby! We just read your last 3 entries and took a look at most of the pictures. Anna says she thinks the tiles you showed are cool. Melanie likes the fish video. Molly wants to know if being with those fish was a neat feeling. Jill wants to know if you are totally used to where you're now living. Nicolette and others say Happy St. Patrick's Day!
We noticed that you are going places near;ly every day. Are you loving that? Aiden S. says your photos are great! The hyrax lloks like a gopher to him.
When are we going to Skype? We are dying to talk to you!!
Love, Your Class!! (Muah Muah Muah - we're blowing you kisses!!)
nice pictures Hi, Abby!
