Well it's been a little while. Unfortunatly the brief interlude that was Reading Break is over and its back to the endless cycle of essays and readings. Although I have finished with 2 classes (except exams) and I only have ...by my reckoning 1 and a quarter essays to go. I have one 1500 word (baby) essay and about 300 to go on another. So things are coming together nicely...I hope. This week is/has also been busy. We have been rehersing for our performance of Mozart's Requiem Mass in D Minor, the first of which is tonight at 8pm. If the rehersals are anything to go by it should be very good. We only have two shows which is an added bonus, although one is in Sidney, which is about an hour away, but it's also ... read more

Another week has come and gone. However, this week was not full of study and essays, this week I was able to have a blessed break. Classes as usual, but just no homework. So I have had a little time to see some more places in this fair land, mind you these places are just down the road. But all too often we long to see the things that are far away, neglecting the sights that are just next door. Last Monday (Halloween Monday) I woke up feeling slightly off, so I decided to lay low and not go to class. By the mid afternoon I was getting cabin fever...well that and I had run out of milk and I had cravings for cake. I decided to walk down the suicide hill to the small market ... read more

Greetings Australians, How long it has been since I have talked with you all. About two weeks by my reckoning...and the calendars, so I will assume its accurate. You know all those nice, mushy sentimental mid-day movies that always feature the loverly scenes of the trees shedding their autumn leaves and everything is gold or red? Well, it's not fake...it actually happens. I must say Autumn....or Fall...if you would beleive these people... is much more spectacular than at home( well the places I've seen anyway). Everything is gold, yellow, red or some variant of those colours. Although in these movies they always show glorious rays of warming sunlight filtering through the branches. This bit is a lie. A cold, frigid lie. It is so freaking cold here. I don't think I've seen proper sunlight for several ... read more

I am tardy this week as it was a long weekend for that Oh so American holiday, Thanksgiving. Joy of joys, I have been privvy to this day that as confused me for so long. Sure I know what the meaning and such is behind it. Settlers turn up. Settlers starve. Natives give them Turkeys and Pumpkin. The end. But I never really understood the processes behind it. What happens, what do they really eat. What rituals go with it. Well, it turns out not much. Aside from most people going home to spend the weekend (not even Thanksgiving day) with their families. Thanksgiving Day fell on Monday so we were given the day off, however most people returned to uni on the monday. Which confused me. At anyrate I brought a ticket to have a ... read more

Well another week has passed. This one would have to be the most uneventful of them all so far. This week I lived much as the hermits do, cloistered away behind closed doors working on somthing that supposedly will reward me for my patience and virtues. HA! I did not leave the general vicinity of the University this week as I had assignments and lots of other pretty little things due ( will include a map to highlight my lack of adventures). Being the good, wise and studious person I am I sacrificed my precious time to complete these things, which I must say, at this point I am up to date with with. Although I did manage to write 1000 more words than was required...but who can blame me? Anglo-Indian relations in colonial Canada is ... read more

First things first. I have been slightly lazy, but the main reason for my lack of updates is, well, my weekdays are individually, quite boring and dull these days. As I have started school and the endless cycle of readings and homework has pretty much rendered my days as sitting at a desk reading passage after passage of text books. So, rather than bore you with the dynamics of Native-French Diplomacy I have decided to update my blog on a weekly basis from now on with a recap of the week. It may be longer than normal, but you wont need to bother reading 5 in a week! So as far as weeks go, its been 4 and a bit already. This is scary. One lecturer pointed out that the semester is 1/3 over already. As ... read more

Well I thought I was all caught up with my days. But alas, I thought Friday was Saturday so I neglected to update. Oh well. Friday was fairly typical anyway. Except I decided to make lasagne for tea. But in order to do this I needed a baking tin. This ment I had to go to the shops. Not wanting to go all the way to the nearest mall or downtown, I decided to give the "Tuscany Village" shopping centre a go. It's only a few blocks from the uni. I was not aware that it has so many shops in it. I usually only pass it on the bus to Walmart. So it was a pleseant surprise that this handy place was so close. At any rate, I found a baking tray in the Thrifty ... read more

Well, maybe just a little Youtube. I think I've watched everything there is to watch on it. Well, not really. But still. Today was smashingly average. 3 class day today. One of my classes is a first year class. So thats about as fun as having ur foot lopped off. Well the class is fine, its just having to sit there for half an hour while the lecturer explains the definition of an Empire. I'm pretty sure if you're doing history of Empires you should have a good idea. But it was fine as were the other classes. When I got home I felt it was about time I did some laundry. And after fighting with the laundry cash machine thing thats exactly what I did. Well before that I trekked all the way to the ... read more

Once again, I am a day behind because of YouTube. Curse having free unlimited downloading capabilities. Wed-nes-day was the same as it always is. Middle of the week. Shuddering at the fact that there are still two days to go. Luckily I had two classes that I really enjoy. And to make it better we were watching a movie in one so that was even better. The movie was a documentary (by an Australian) about Native people in Quebec who, every winter, go to their 'native' land (tracts of forest owned by their family) and live off the land. They did most everything in the traditional way (save for a chainsaw and a gun). It was quite intreuging to see how they went about things. We didn't get to finish it, but I will download it ... read more

Well I was a bit lax with my efforts last night. I had all intentions on updating you all, but I got distracted by YouTube surfing. But at anyrate, Tuesday wasn't all that great. Chinese history in the morning. I am actually loving this class. Except for the guy who sits up the front. ARG!!!! And the icing was put on the cake yesterday when the lecturer asked if anyone remembered what the Chinese name for China is (it was mentioned in the chapter we had to read). To which idiot up the front shot up his hand and before being called upon he answered the question in Chinese (which was wrong because the teacher wanted to know what it ment, not what it was). It was at this point I facepalmed when I realised, this ... read more
