Discover the cronicles of Aaron & Emma as we depart Perth, Western Australia to embark on a extended working holiday in Europe, based in London. Moving from Tom Price (pop. 4,000) to Perth to London (pop. 8,000,000) within a few months will be a slight culture shock but one we're looking forward to!!

Monday 17th December Outa bed, went to work, worked (a little), went home, watched tv, inta bed. Repeat x 4. Saturday 22nd December Scotland here I come! As Emma had lined up a nice job over the Christmas break I decided to make the most of mine and follow in her highland footsteps. Off to a later start than I would have hoped due to a non-existent alarm, I hit the road, tubing it down to Marble Arch to pick up my Renault Clio which would be my wheels for the four day expedition. The motorway traffic was surprisingly good and I only came to a stop in a couple of spots, sitting on 80mph most of the way. I didn't muck about, heading straight up the middle of the UK on the A1, M1 and ... read more

Thursday 13th December On my ride to work this morning I spot layers of ice on the road, footpath and cars for the first time. My fingers and ears copped the 1°C temp the most (note to self - buy some full finger gloves and wear beanie next time!) and it was a bit sad to be happy at entering busy Marylebone St with it's abundance of warm exhaust fumes. Luckily I had my riding mask filter on. Tonight I had my Christmas work dinner at a restaurant/bar called Browns a few streets from work in Bank. I grabbed a seat next to Paul, Sean and Mark some of the highest positioned traders in the company. I soon found out that they were probably some of the biggest drinkers as well and it wasn't long before ... read more

Monday 3rd December Bought Kylie Minouge tickets. No, I haven't turned gay, but it should be a good show in July at the O2 Arena. Wednesday 5th December Tonight we had an appointment with one Mr Dave Hughes at the Shephard's Bush Walkabout (or the Shebu walkie if you're a local). The place was packed full of snakebite sculling Aussies (inc. Cam, Nat and a few other mates) when Hughesy peered through the curtain on stage. He was spinning out a bit, I think it might have been his first time in London as he was noticing the same differences and peculiarities as us when we were fresh off the boat. He also laid a few boots into Holden for not renewing their contract with him, the bastards! Nothing like a bit of Hughesy' dry humour ... read more

Monday 26th November Slept all day, ate nothing, feel like poo. Wednesday 28th November Tubed it to work, still feelin' dodgy. After work I met up with Cam for a pint at O'Neils and to collect £200 the greedy landlord had held on to for the bond. Friday 30th November Today I saw James May from Top Gear at a Leadenhall Market book store as he was about to do a signing for "James May's 20th Century". The line was already too long for me to wait in my lunch break and the book didn't look that interesting to me so I papparazzied him and took off. On the tube on the way home I ran into John who happened to sit right next to me (small city) so we went out for a few drinks ... read more

*** Note : Conservative types/kiddies may wish to go read a newspaper/Disney book instead. *** Monday 19th November In the evening we met John for a few pints at the Prince Alfred pub in Maida Vale. It was a grand old pub that had been renovated beautifully. Five bar compartments, each with its own door from the street, are separated from one another by wooden partitions, each with a small access door. The divisions within the pub reflected the divisions in Victorian society and there was a ladies bar and a private bar with snob screens over the bar counter to ensure privacy and anonymity. Thursday 22nd November Off to the Dam!! As Emma was cash strapped from all her 2 months of touring I was heading across the channel on a solo voyage to check ... read more

Monday 12th November This morning I escorted Em through the busy London streets to London Bridge where we found a Pret A Manger (a popular cafe that's infested London) for some breakfast. 'Twas only 2 degrees on our way in, it's getting colder here! Wednesday 14th November Once again I'd scored some tickets to be in a television audience and this time I was to see a new game show called "Nothing But The Truth" from the one and only - Jerry Springer. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry! Yes, there were a few in the crowd chanting the familiar chant, including an absolute muppet sitting behind us who would have copped a knuckle sandwich if security hadn't asked him to leave. Unfortunately, Jerry has a knack for finding some of the biggest numpties out there. This was a ... read more

Monday 5th November After work I rode to the Kensington Odean cinema where The Who movie premiere was being hosted, with Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend making an appearance. After waiting for 3 hours in the cold, the bastards walked straight past all the fans to the mob of photographers/interviewers and then in the nice cosy cinema. Who do they think they are! Tuesday 6th November Emma's work mate Verity met us in Hampstead with her boyfriend for a couple of tasty pizza's. They're a very friendly couple but are heading back home to Adelaide soon unfortunately. Wednesday 7th November With work out the way, I made my way over to Leicester Square (once again) for a quick kebab and a wander. I had to kill a bit of time before lining up for the Graham ... read more

Tuesday 30th October Today I went in to Leicester Square again for the première of Juno, but once I got in I found out Jennifer Garner wasn't to be showing up. I noticed there were a regular group of people who attended all the premières and I got talking to one guy Johnny, who, just in the last month or two had gotten photos of himself with Tom Cruise, Geoffrey Rush, Heather Graham, Judy Dench, Jamie Foxx, Kylie Minougue and Scarlett Johannson just to name a few! I can see how people become addicted to such pursuits. Wednesday 31st October Tonight, the annual National TV Awards was being held at the Royal Albert Hall in Knightsbridge. As it was on the way home from work, I dropped in for a look. There was still a few ... read more

Wednesday 24th October £80 was the damage to get the rim and spokes replaced on my bike after the fateful bunnyhop incident. Won't do that again! After work I decided to swing by the West End and see what was shaking. Emerging from the Charing Cross tube at Trafalgar Square I was greeted by a rather surreal looking 20 metre tall Homer Simpson blowing in the breeze. They'd pumped him up for the London Gaming Festival and he was joined by a massive video screen that was showing gaming action being played inside tents set up in the Square. Anyone could go along and try out the latest consoles and games. Just up the road at Leicester Square, the Odean West End cinema was holding host to the BFI London Film Festival and tonight the première ... read more

Wednesday 17th October Em got the job she applied for, nannying for a little two year old girl, Olivia. It's only about 4kms from our home, over in Camden, which beats travelling half way across London every morning to a different place each time. She beat four others that were short-listed, even though she was asking for more than the others. Must have been that Aussie charm. Good one Em! Saturday 20th October As it was only 3kms away, we thought we'd ride down to "Little Venice" in the area - Warwick Avenue. You wouldn't have thought it, but London and the whole of England for that matter is full of canals and longboats. You could pretty much travel all over the country via the many waterways snaking their way around the country, and lots of ... read more
