Hello again! We just wanted to pick up where we left off and let you all know a little about our Laos adventure so far. We arrived here about 5 days ago and have been taking in all the sights which are fantastic. There are plenty of Wats to visit, waterfalls, and the caves with 4000 Buddhas. So we have done all the touristy stuff which leaves us with time to just relax and enjoy the town. It is a small town which you can walk easily or ride a rented bike around for the day. There are tiny little Frech [View Full Entry]

Namaste Everyone Or rather 'sawatdi khrap'! We last left all of you, well some of you who aren't yet tired of our travelling escapades, in Rishikesh, India. Known as the Yoga Capital of the World, unfortunately we did not capitalize on this as we were pretty worn thin with Indian hospitality (read: beggars, touts, rudeness, etc.). For those of you who aren't lifetime subscribers of Reader's Digest a recent poll just showed Mumbai and Delhi as being the rudest cities on Earth with India as a whole topping the list of countries. We can definately attest to this survey as just [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone! Well our excursion in India just got much, much HOTTER. We came from the cool Himalayas where the weather was just perfect. The people are wonderful, friendly and for the most part honest. So hopping on a couple trains totaling around 30 hours we arrive in Varanasi. The center of the Hindu universe, and it feels like we are now once again in India. From the moment we step off the train at 5:30 AM we are accosted by auto rickshaw drivers telling us of 'cheap hotel rates', 'cheaper silk stores', and 'cheapest city tours'. Knowing all to well [View Full Entry]

Hello everyone! STOP NOW if you don't have time to read this becasue it is verrrrry long and we apologize for not being able to condense it just a litte more! Some amazing adventures we have been having here in India. It seems that we are constently on the move always trying to see all the fantastic places but alas, it is impossible to see everything so we seem to go with what grabs us and let it take us there. After Agra we hopped a couple trains up to Himachal Pradesh. This isn't always as easy as it sounds because [View Full Entry]

Namaste, Our last days in Goa were filled with torrential downpours. Our second to last night, we are staying in a coco hut right on Palolem Beach. We are awakened by the owner pounding on our thin hut door. We open it up to see horizontal rains coming down in buckets with the wind ripping through the coconut palms. He yells to us: 'Grab your passport and money we need to leave now!! Cyclone is coming!' So we pack up as much important stuff as possible and head out into the cyclone winds and rain with three other guests and only [View Full Entry]

hey all greetings from INDIA! We finally made it to India after almost 34 hours of flying and layovers. We arrived in Mumbai on the 18th and tried to see as much as possible in the 24 hours we had before our overnight train to goa. After getting off the plane and being wisked into the taxi, it set in... 'we are not in Kansas anymore!' So first off, cab drivers are absolutely crazy, weaving into and out of both lanes of traffic that consists of large buses, plenty of motorbikes (with whole families huddled onto one bike), bicycles and the [View Full Entry]

Hey all! Well we are off again after a few weeks of R&R. We ended up renting a flat in Auckland (much cheaper than staying in a hostel for 2 weeks) after traveling up northland. It is interesting, here in NZ they rent apartments by the week not by the month. After a few phone calls and some emailing we found a cool place right in the city center that would let us rent for two weeks. We have flatmates (two couples both working and out of school), they are very relaxed and kind people, always willing to help us out! [View Full Entry]

Since we left all of you we have been travelling around the North Island mainly sticking to the central plateau area (Lake Taupo, Tongariro National Park). We have been visiting hot springs and thermal areas as this part of the country is full of them. We have searched out the 'no charge' springs and taken advantage of healing are tired and sore bodies, and the occasional bathe in the river ;) On the 20th of April we walked a tramp called the Tongariro Crossing. This area of the country was where much of the Lord of the Rings was filmed, so [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone! Since our last blog in Golden Bay we have had quite the adventure, kayaking the Abel Tasman National Park. The park is considered one of New Zealand's 'Great Walks' although we have heard it is much nicer to kayak (thanks Scotty!). So we met up with some new friends we had met at the Peace Festival, and hired two double kayaks as there were four of us. We wanted the freedom to explore the park at our own pace, so we hired the kayaks for 5 days and chose not to bring along a guide. The starting off point [View Full Entry]
