I enjoyed your story since I am a native nicaraguan that left when I was about 8 yrs of age and has not gone back since. I will be returning with my family for the first time in 24 years and I am excited!!! No longer a child I can't wait for my own children to see the beauty nicaragua has to offer. Thank you for the inspiring anecdote. My husband is not hispanic and he has been think a lot about going, but just like many stories I hear everyone ends up falling in love with nicaragua!

Hello Mr. Zudro, I very much enjoyed reading your article. I am a native from Nicaragua and am planning on visiting Nicaragua at the end of May after 15 years that I have been gone. One of the places I will be visiting is San Juan del Sur! It makes me very proud to know you enjoy my country.

Hi. Thank you for reading my entries! I also appreciate your feedback. I sent you an e-mail (brittan) with info. on places to stay in SJDS and possible connections, I hope you got it. Sorry I haven't written any new entries lately but I have been busy (taking classes) changing from Social Services to Health Services. I plan to work 6-8 months out of the year and travel for the rest of the time. I should have a little more free time soon so please stand by for my new entries on the continued Saga of our life in Nicaragua and my other travel experiences! I love your blog
I ran across your blog while doing some research and I have to say that I read every word without getting up from my computer. Argh! What happens next in your adventure? How was the drive, border crossings, etc? My husband and 2 children, ages 5 and 7 are flying to Managua on Jan. 24th to move to SJDS for a couple of months to see how we like the area and perhaps live there longer. I sure would love to hear the rest of your story. I hope to read more soon!

better late than never
I know, this blog is old and is about even earlier events, but I just read it now. I want to tell you how impressed I am by anyone who can just take such a leap of faith and take off fo the unknown with no real home behind them. It is significant since you were no spring chicken at the time and had established yourself with friends and routines. I'll be reading more to see how things went.

I stumbled upon your blog while trying to do some research on Nica. I am so glad I did as you are a very engaging writer and you and your daughter's adventure is very inspiring. I am a 27-year-old female who was supposed to meet one of my friends in Nica this coming week. However, she can no longer go so I was debating just going by myself. Your inspiring and adventurous tales of travel are a very convincing argument for me to pack up and do the trip solo. I can't wait for another post from you! Oh, and if you are still in Aca - which I doubt because of your timeline - there is a little taco place across the street from the Fiesta Americana that is one of the best in the city.
