It would seem I'm getting a little slack with these blogs - I'm a fair way behind where I usually am, and that is basically Adam's fault. As Adam is here, it is far easier to lie around bitching, or talking about cars than write my blog, so I've been doing that. Naughty naughty. The slippery slope to blog laziness started after my last blog in Manly, where I became really quite ill. I've not felt this bad in about 4-5 years I reckon, and I'm not sure how it compared on the global scale of suffering, but I'm not used [View Full Entry]

new years milling about
lots of people after new years
don't look down!

Hello from Manly, Australia's answer to Crawley. It is raining, and Adam & I are in full moan mode, but I think we should rewind to the end of the trip to Alice & Ayres rock. We got back knackered, not tired, not a bit pooped, properly exhausted, and a proper bed in a real house was exactly what the doctor ordered. Then company happened, Kim, Ben & Adam arrived, all all hell of parody-esque hell broke loose, with piles of presents for Amy, tales of Singapore, and tales from a very wintery england! Christmas isn't quite right in Australia, everything [View Full Entry]

good morning christmas
too the smart car!
tasty lunch

Hello my beautiful little people! So we last left off having finished up Kangaroo Island, and since then we dropped back in to Adelaide (after a spectacular lightning storm on the way in) before hopping on a plane up to Alice Springs. Domestic flights are a pretty strange experience, but Qantas are pretty good, and provide carrot cake and a cup of tea mid way on the hour and forty minutes up to Alice. I don't understand why Alice is still there, it is where it is because they needed a telegraph repeater station half way between Adelaide and Darwin so [View Full Entry]

I'm sure you'll all be pleased to hear I haven’t fallen off the bottom of the planet just yet, but I'm working on it. We're still in Kangaroo Island, still doing the same volunteering jazz. Currently there is an echidna in the back yard, and kangaroo in the front, and the 80s on the iPoop speakers, Jenny don't change your number, 867-5309. There have been a good few decent nocturnal tours since I last wrote, James ran down an echidna, and picked it up, which was hilarious, one of the tourists jumped a mile when it rippled when she touched it. Kangaroo fight
Drink driving; always a Christmas Fave
A remarkably shaped rock

G'day from Kangaroo Island (although I hear there are 4 wallaby to 1 kangaroo so...), this place is a living life-style choice, and I like it. Arrival wasn't exactly stylish, 7am bus to ferry to transfer bus, but I lucked in with a sneaky cappucino and a blueberry muffin prior to being boatwards meant I felt good enough to feel alright despite the choppy water. The scenery has changed a bit now, more classical Oz than the reams of wheat farm we've been looking at so far. The transfer bus touched down in Kingscoat, probably the only map-worthy place on the [View Full Entry]

G'day blogaroos, how are you? That's right, everyone here asks you how you are, even supermarket assistants in the shop, not "would you like some help with that?" or "These strawberries are fantastic" but "how are you?". In a hurry, normally, now sell me these underpants so I can get on with my life please! That aside, Adelaide is a lovely place to live, just lovely, but I can see why back-packers don't usually get here so often. The last few days have been very chilled, we've done a bit of christmas shopping, visited Glenelg, which is a beachy section [View Full Entry]

I've got an update on the Melbourne Hostel, looks like I got unlucky, the people who replaced the people I first stayed with were lovely, I had a good evening chatting with 3 new single serving friends, and even took a midnight excursion into Melbourne, which finished about 0230am, and gained me some nice photos of Melbourne by night. With the addition of a now clean room, some decent company and 2 beers, I'm going to upgrade Urban Central to 7/10, better than most! What is so great about the great ocean road you may ask? Well, pretty much everything to [View Full Entry]

New hostel friends.

Concluding our time in Melbourne, I've had a good time here. Well, all the time I've been out the hostel anyway! I'm not sure what it is, but I always get stuck in a hostel full of perverts, 2 nights ago, in my Dorm, on the bunk below me, a fellow male dorm-mate, and a creature of the night, or atleast from another room, decided that they couldn't wait for a rubbish shag. If ever any of you are in a long term relationship, and lament the advantages of being single, don't covert the sex, because from the too much I've [View Full Entry]

A winner indeed.
Mmmmm.....
Katie, Brooke & Gift

I'm afraid to report I had a little accident, I'm writing to you know on an Acer aspire One, which I picked up at the airport, duty free, which is pretty poor self control, but I figure I'll end up with one when I'm done abroad anyway, as the old one is really on the way out... more excuses etc. The really good news is, I'm writing to you with nicely chilled draught lager on tap, I'm in Melbourne, and life is decidedly western again. For a start, today I have seen one Aston Martin DBS, and one Ferrari California, plus [View Full Entry]

MMM...... motorbikes.

Please ignore the photo captions, these computers transpose all the names randomly, which is really, really annoying. 3 blogs in 3 days? A record may well be a foot, sadly the record is not as good as "Man gave names to all the animals" by Bob Dylan. Today we left the island of Singapore, by monorail (curse you, transport of the future), in search of the Santosa theme park thingy. After forking over a pile of dollars for one catagory b ride, and three catagory a rides, we set off with disposable oyster cards to explore the wonders of dredging sea [View Full Entry]
