The summer has begun officially today and we are all back from our adventure together in Minnesota gathering the pictures and stories to put together memory books. Its hard to believe that the trip is now just a memory after all the months and years of planning. But what a memory it is. The morning of the 16th, I (Melissa) took a bus from Sorrento to Rome to catch a few sights that we missed out on our super adventure. I added some pictures from our adventure in Rome on Wednesday and our day in Capri in the previous blogs. Today I have spent much of the day walking and getting to know the Metro in Rome. On the 15th, Als, KJ and I (melissa) headed off to Capri from Sorrento. Capri is the Island of the Sirens or Mermaids, depending on how you translate. We arrived via ferry (just when we thought we had taken our last ferry!) after 20 minutes. We grabbed our One day, whole island pass and took the cable car up to Capri. A quick stop in Capri determined we wanted to head to Anicapri to go to the top of Capri and then to the Blue Grotto. Both were AMAZING. Quick update here from Capri where KJ, Aliya and I (melissa) are spending the day. After sad good-byes to the rest of the group, we stopped at the Sofitel to have dinner with our new friend from Canada before he headed to Afghanistan. We then slept the night of the 13th in the airport to make our plane in the morning. We arrived safely in Rome and did a quick tour of Trevi Fountain and other historical sites. Megan checking in. After a rough night for some, a very small group of us raced to catch the boat to the uninhabited island of Delos. Delos is Europe's oldest archaeological site...and its stunning. We will upload photos as soon as we can because I am sure I won't be able to do it justice. Nothing but greek ruins all over the island and the highlight being a huge trek to the peak, where tourists pay homage to the greek gods by stacking rocks on top of eachother. Hello! Melissa here again just thought we would update you on our Mykonos adventures! Our ferry arrived and we checked into the beautiful Petinos hotel on Petinos beach and grabbed our suits and headed for the sand! Swimming for some, reading for others, mostly enjoying the view and getting a tan through our spf 30 to 45 sunscreen! After the sunset we headed into Mykonos town to some local dance clubs and taverns. We arrived safely in Santorini on a ferry at 4 am and are staying at a hotel a block from the black beaches of Perissa. Time for the wine tours, volcano, and tonight the sunset over the Caldera! We split up a bit for the day with Jessica and Jeanna heading up the beach front. Aisha, Aliya, Aditi, Megs, KJ, Me (Melissa) and George (who we met at the internet cafe in Milos) traveled around Santorini. It is beautiful there. Melissa here... A blustry day called for all of us to adventure to the various towns around Milos. Luckily, Jessica found us a local tour guide who's mom is from Milos but lives in Arizona now, his name is George. Our trips around the island included a beautiful beach, local towns, the Catacombs, an old theater, and beautiful scenery as Megs drove a car through the windy roads. George's cousin owns a restaurant in the capital of Milos so we ate, had some wine and laughed while meeting his extended family, which was great because we had the opportunity to meet [View Full Entry]

Megan checking in! Hi all, Today we spent the entire day exploring Milos from the water. Rod, a super tan Aussie picked us up from our hotel and brought us down to the beach to go sea kayaking. We were all a little nervous at first (and hungover) but we picked it up pretty quickly and then we were off. Along the way we stopped for some swimming and snorkeling and we had lunch right next to an abandoned old sulfur mine.
