So after visiting Chander Tal KeyKyeKikee monastery and Kibber it turns out there isnt a lot to do in Kaza and around The clinic was really interesting and it wasnt long before somebody came needing their gall bladder out. Dr laji was having a surgery camp in 2 weeks where patients could get it done for free paid by the government but some requested it straight away. So we did 2 cholecyst

So lots to tell. Left Manali at 430am in a minibus to drive to Kaza in the Spiti valley with Dr Verghese Jenny another med student a dutch film crew and a driver. The drive took 10 hours. Went over the Rohtang pass 3978m means place of corpses and the Kunzum La pass 4590m on roads that were only intermittantly paved and literally just bumped around for about 10 hours through the most amazing

So i39m in manali and have been for a day or two longer than expected. The bus was fairly uneventful and I found it due to the large group of white british kids getting on the same deluxe bus which wasnt too bad except for i was given a seat over the rear wheels instead of in the middle whether the bumps would be much less. The roads were actually OK and the bus so big it couldnt speed too m

Finishing up at JN So our stay at Trekkers Nest really was great.
The clinicSo we finally finished at the clinic after doing about 20 days. It was amazing. We saw hundreds of ultrasounds largely for pregnancy kidney and Gall bladder stones and even got a few goes ourselves. Quite a lot of chest xrays and people with TB and a few other wierd and wonderful problems. It was sad to leave because Dr Singhla really was a great teacher and seemed to enjoy having us t

Another eventful weekTrek to BarotWe started off the week saturday with an easy 1 day trek recommended by Dr Singhla to Barot a small valley adjacent to this one. There is an old dissused trolley line which hauled machinery up and across the top of the mountains to the next valley which has since fallen into disrepair but the track still remains and acts as a guide to trek to Barot.
Wow this needs to be a big update. So we went sighseeing around Delhi a bit and went to the red fort which I went to with quick and the boys a few years ago which was really good though everyone stared at us at the only white people there and some teenagers stopped us and asked us to have pictures with each of them in turn bit odd but there you go. We found a German Bakery in Delhi paharga

Leaving mumbai was a bit sad after a night in a great hostel even if we were sharing 3 beds all pushed together as it was the only room we could find at 1130pm. A taxi to the hotel was definately a must as it was down a dark alley and up 3 flights of stairs all with people sleeping in the stairwells and voices rising from the dark corners pointing in the right direction pretty funny but a bit

Ok long time since i updated but here u go. Did 160m bungee jump at 'the last resort' in Nepal. Absolutely amazing. We booked it kinda spontaneously and went the next day. 6am a half hour walk away we got on tiny busses with about 50 other people along the usual nepali roads and anyone thats been will know exactly what i mean and that inside a bus is probably the most dangerous place you can

After a couple more days in Pokhara we booked a jungle trip for a few days. This was after a visit to the 'bat cave' one of the highlights of pokhara. This consisted of visiting 2 or 3 'temples' which were tiny and crap but proby still managed to get ripped off by talking to a guide all the way round then stupidly giving him 500rs 4quid when the guy demanded money The Bat cave and the othe

Then went to the train station and after quite a lot of complicated reading timetables in hindi managed to get on the right train even tho it came late and to the wrong platform but really good sleeper trains and had a great nigh

Long flights into delhi via paris no real problems but landed at 11pm after getting delayed and pretty tired. Guy met us from the hotel and sorted our taxi which drove us through delhi at the dead of night nearly hitting about 50 different motorbikes on the way drove us down a deserted street with cows sleeping and figures huddled in dark alleyways. No tarmac just a dusty road and then just s

After getting to Santiago on the train great service so much better than the already pretty good busses. We trekked aroung looking again for a hostel that didnt exist anymore and eventually went to La Casa Roja which was a great hostel really busy and in a restored mansion in a great part of Santiago which doesnt necessarily mean much. Loads of english there cos its run by aussies and alth

After deciding there was nothing else to do in Pucon we headed out on an early bus to Temuco to catch the train an apparently very scenic route to chillan where we would try and do some skiing though finding a hostal cheap and near the slopes was proving dificult. However so was the train. It was still not running since a failure in 2007 and this meant going back to the bus station and getti
