Wisecracks from your beloved co-workers - From: 604030tour Rides Again!
Hi Jesse! Hope you're having a great time! We're really enjoying reading your blog and we have a few questions for you: 1) Did they have Diet Pepsi when they ran the Mogadishu Mile? 2) We were wondering if you ran between gates A6 & A16 4 times? Google maps has it at a quarter mile. You may want to recalibrate your GPS. 3) Thought you'd like to know that we've turned your blog into a drinking game. Any time you mention GPS or "Great Beer" we take a drink. Josh is passed out on the floor right now. Lots of love! NMG PS - Please don't block us from reading ;)

Try Mainz - From: 604030tour Rides Again!
If you have time, stop off in Mainz when you return to Franfurt area. Beautiful little town. Check out the chapel with the stained glass windows by Chagall.

I am so sorry I missed it: LOL - From: 604030tour Rides Again!
I do miss you both and am deeply sadened at the fact that I could not come I know that you will deal with what you have been given and love every minute of it. Even though the first part of your trip has been weak at best, you will prevail. That is what we know how to do; we will overcome the disasters placed in our way. Congrat's on our family traditions. Wish I could join you both. Next year Czech. I promise. Erin

Your Blog - From: 604030tour Rides Again!
Thank you, Jesse, for an always entertaining blog. NOT an auspicious start to your trip by the sound of it. At least you're finding some good food and beer! The only news here is that we are on tenterhooks waiting for Obama to announce his VP pick - supposed to happen in the morning. I'm hoping for Joe Biden. I look forward to your next entry which will have you well on your way and on schedule. Cheers to Margaret. Elyse

Happy Brithday, MAB! - From: Vouziers to Luxembourg
I can't believe you're SIX-OH! and I will be there too soon! What an achievement to be biking up and down hills in Europe with your two favorite people in the whole world! They do you proud, too, every day of their lives. You raised a couple of good human beings. Today is sunny and gorgeous in San Diego. Sue and Darren are in Austin rolling out new QFC, Dee is giving a speech to the local chapter of Toastmasters right now, and I am manning the fort. Boring stuff compared to the excitement in your lives. Enjoy Luxembourg - I thought it was a lovely country and I do remeber lots of hills and curvy roads, so take it easy. Looking forward to the next blog. Cheers, Lisa

Hooray for the French and their memories - From: Vouziers to Luxembourg
Jessie ~~ we are soul mates as I thought I was the only one who visited war memorials and hid so I could cry. I think it so interesting how litle most Americans know about the high esteem in which the French held us. Norm's brother is buried in a National Military Cemetery in Draguignan, France. It is, of course, an American cemetery but the French treat it with reverence and the honor they give it on Memorial Day is unbelievable. I think you will come home with a new idea about the French.

Everything - From: Vertus to Vouziers
Jesse doing wonderful job of commentator. I'm so glad you are learning more about the French. Most are friendly and helpful; not all like what most Americans report. They are still grateful to the US and other countries for support in WWII and, as he reported, the monuments made by locals do appear and are kept up. Should make us feel ashamed. Keep the commentary coming!

Keep the news coming - From: Vertus to Vouziers
It's such a treat to read the blogs - almost as good as being there. I've sent a few messages but just realized I had to be logged in to get them to you! I really admire all of you for doing this - I don't think I would have the stamina to bike those hills and my fear of being hit by a car would be a problem. But you all bravely get through it and will be personally enriched by the experience. Tell MAB that nothing of great importance has happened around here, which is good. We do miss her, though! Lisa

Trip sounds delightful - From: Vertus to Vouziers
I've posted a few comments but don't know if you're getting them or not. I love reading your journal - it's almost like being there. I admire all of you for doing this but especially Margaret - I don't think I'd have the stamina. Tell MAB that nothing's been happening around here in her absence which is a good thing!

What a great family adventure...I only missed you once Margaret..wish you could have been at the Tony Awards party I would have loved your hooting and hollering. Think you are gonna make it! - From: Catching up the entries.....
Once you learn which end is up (or in which direction to go!),isoundslike it is going to be fabulous. Margaret ~ you do know JERSEY BOYS won the Tony and Christian Hoff for best featured actor in a musical and John Lloyd Wright for best lead actor. It was rather touching as they were the only two people there who obviously did not expe ct to win. Their acceptance speeches came from the heart. Des did not get the directing award but his snazzy new girlfriend sat next to him in audience. Tony party at Playhouse fun with so-so food and a big crowd. Tally Ho...dd

I was getting a little worried with the lack of entries but am pleased to see all caught up and that you're having a wonderful (albeit glitchy) time. I don't know how you have the strength to ride 41 miles on a couple of power bars! Keep the entries coming! Lisa

Planned trip? - From: The flight and first day!
I shuttled between being scared during the bike ride into Paris as well as the elevator ride avec bicylettes to hysterical with laughter during the taxi ride (although I know it wasn't very funny to participate in). Also, I'm still trying to locate Provins on the map of France. Margaret! You should have taken me with you as I speak french! Hope the rest of the trip is fun for the three of you ~~~ and safe. French drivers count it a good day when they HAVE hit a pedestrian or biker.

What a day!!! - From: The flight and first day!
Your first day was certainly an adventure. I'm sure it will be saner when you get out to the countryside. My sister, Janet, couldn't believe you were going to pedal away from CDA. Now you know. Was it raining in Paris? If not, your luck was with you. All is well here. I folded tee shirts at LJP this AM--see "Z" tonight. Please be careful and come home in one piece.
