Xi'an has been one of my favorite city in China. I have enjoyed riding the bike to do a circuit on the City Wall very much. I hired the bike for RMB20/100mins, RMB30 for every additional 30mins. The money is not a problem but to finish a whole circuit (14km) plus taking photographs on the way isn't an easy task! But that makes the trip interesting. Seeing the sunset on the wall is another enjoyment. Then head to a pub nearby to relax myself after the exciting day. I took a 2-hour bus ride to Mt. Hua (Huashan). The peak is merely 2,130m or 7,000ft. But the main course of the mountain is the tiny wooden path sticking out in the air at the peak. The path is 2ft wide, no rail, 108m single trip (216m ... read more

I didn't stay in Nanjing for long because for historical content, Xi'an would be a better option. Anyway, as a Chinese, I gotta go to pay my respect to the WWII Memorial Hall of the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre. I lived in the YHA hostel near the Fuzimiao/Confucius Temple. The location is indeed really good but the Fuzimiao itself is not that impression. I spent an hour in the area just to find temple which itself is simply a tiny block while 95% of the tourist spot are shops, shops & shops! The Nanjing City Wall is okay, not that impressive as the one in Xi'an. I went up to Mt. Purple by cable car but it didn't feel safe so I walked down the hill. I am more interested in interactive activities so the ... read more

The tourist facilities in Hangzhou are absolutely amazing. Everything is so well facilitated. It is really nice to hire a bike & ride along the West Lake. You could comfortably spend half day riding bike along the lake until sunset when the lights from the downtown Hangzhou emerges in the background. Then get a front row ticket for the show "Impressions of West Lake" directed by Zhang Yimou who did the same thing for Beijing Olympics. The show is absolutely amazing! I was really shocked when a huge stage emerged from the centre of the lake. How could I not have noticed the stage underneath water after having spent half day around the lake!... read more

This is my first time to Shanghai. It is just like what I have expected - a mixture of modern & colonial texture. However, it's not very interesting as I come from Hong Kong, another metropolitan city. There are massive demolitions in Shanghai either for the rapid development itself or for the preparation of the World Expo next year to be held in the city. ... read more
