Mabian(@600m) is kind of border town between Han area and Yi people of the Daliangshan area. In fact you could see Yi people here in the area. Came here trying to made the pass into Meigu area. But then find out there was no bus connection between the 2 counties! "only go to Xinshi and you can make the connection" they told me in Mabian bus station. Mean I need to made a big round eastward. 4/8/09 Rain attacked Sichuan, most of the area flooded with water. It stop to visited some remote site. We carried on from Dazu inton Anyue region. This area cliamed to be the Home of Religpus Grotto. In within 2500 km sq. area there are more the 10000 rock engraving. But the 2 days in Anyue the rain kept pouring. It stop us ventured out to visit the famouse sleeping buddha and the purple bamboo Guanyin. We did made the effort to check out the close-by 1000 buddha grotto which was 3 km out of town. Look at the map, P voted for Dazu (@500m)Cave as it wasn't too far away. Why not then as I had never been there before. In fact...good direct bus went to Dazu from Zigong everyday, a 3 hrs journey on a good road help me sleep through the way into Chongqing region. The Saturday Dazu was full with people, the walking street was lively lived, almost like in hongkong. The climate was too hot for me compared with my last 10 years life in highland. The 1st food scene change after enter Sichuan was no more cross-the-bridge noodle, instead in Yibin region the speciality is "rian mien", dry noodle mixed with different kind of spices and sauce, very tasty indeed. You could find it everywhere in Yibin region. Beside the noodle, grilled and bbq stands was almost un-existed, you still saw some, but compared with the number in Yunnan, here in this part of Sichuan...this smoky scene was miserable! Zhuhai, the Sea of Bamboo is one of the main sight in Yibin area. And Summer is the high season, no wonder Monday I still see many holiday maker around. "what a huge clean fresh air garden"! Everyone would write in their travelblog about the Zhuhai, but 90% of people came here whirling around with their own car, which really polluted the air. And the thing again I hate the same...I walk around on the motor road with vehicles speeding pass. But the was how they build this tourist site! All the sites only links by motor road. Soft sleeper train from Kunming to Yibin yesterday. Yes... Soft sleeper, going for luxury as the weather was rather hot lately. But the air-con seem doesn't really work at night, the answer was "we switch it off because the temperature was lower than 23 degree." the worse was the fan doesn't work as well in our small cubic, its work only for few second by patting the fan, so me and another passenger on the upper berth took term to hit. Again came back into Jianshui area because there was one more market I would like to visit. Puxiong(@1600m)is sandwiched at the corner between Gejiu and Yuanyang area. compared with the landscape in north Jianshui, here you see more trees on hillside. According to the local, the town was rather prosperous with the tin industry nearby in Gejiu, trader and businessmen in the old day shuttle between Shiping and Gejiu that made Puxiong a reasonable stop. Checked my calendar and the Beige (@1850m)and Zhongheying(@1300m) market day was near. Why not again as I had no schedule for this trip anyway. Been here 6 months ago, but with the wrong market date and foggy weather, so I didn't have much positive impression of the town. but this time with sunny blue sky, the single street was inhabited with people, I even find an ok guesthouse to stay this time.
