It was a long bus journey! with 2 police check point before you could get to Baoshan, just right in time for the only direct bus at 11am heading to Lincang to finish a day journey. Then through Jinggu and Ninger I need to sleep another night in Mojiang. My plan was travel through Sancun where I had never been to and then reach Honghe, but find out the road was still blocked, so I took the Yungjiang road back to Yuanyang. The Yuanyang town and the surounding was still under forever semi construction, but at least less dusty, anyways... I was just made plan and wait out for my next festival trip. But then...bad thing happened again on me and my travel for this year was finished! I fell off a broken wooden bridge and ... read more

"Kaimenjie"(open-door festival) in Dai language call "Chuwa", is one of the main festival for the HinayānaBuddhism. Legend said Buddha went back to The Western Sky for his yearly visit to his mother for 3 days(3 months on earth), with the absent of their teacher, all his monk follower went out to preach in all direction, but in ruthness and careless they trespassed framland and fields, ruined many crops and vegetation just right before harvest. People complainted to Buddha on his return. From then athe Lord confined all the monk from being away from the temple during his visit to his mother in the future. That was the begining of "Guanmenjie" - "Jinwa" which mean closing door ceremony, and monks should stay inside their temple, pray and study, wishing the ordinary has a good harvest season. Mangshi is the capital town of Luxi County, with an airport offered a quick entry point into Dehong Prefecture. The town spread wide on the flat valley with a small hill on the southeast end where stood the huge Dajinta Pagoda. Beside Han, the area live mostly Dai and Deang, couple of temples hidden inside the local living quarter offered a quiet hideout during the day, also a good place for meal as there are plenty of Dai homestyle restaurants scattered around the area. Sapi is the local speciality sneak(dish) in Dehong region, you could find it anywhere within the Prefecture. Sapi is a cold dish served with rice noodle and meat from different part of a buffalo, on the side it came with the sauce max from minced beef and liver paste with different spicies. ... read more

We pass through many sugarcane field in the 3 hours journey, after Huguo and we enter into Lianghe region, I saw farmer already busy in harvesting rice within the golden field. The most eye-catching sight before entering Lianghe town was the huge Golden Pagoda erected on the left bank of the Longdi river, it had been build about 2 years ago by the Dai community in the region. And there also a Mengdi Pagoda inside town coexisting with a Han Buddhism temple, a fusion? but a great quiet hideout ... read more
