2012 Disney Surprise Vacation

Getting ready for a 7 day/6 night Surprise Disney vacation for our family!

Travel Blog Posts

Beautiful, early start this morning. We took advantage of the extra magic morning hours this morning, and enjoyed a hour before opening to the general public. Juan and Luke got their fastpasses for Space Mountain, while Ben and I took a ride on the people mover. Buzz Lightyear ride and the Tomorrowland Speedway. Once the park opened, Luke and Juan headed to Space Mountain on their fastpasses so Ben and I went to Mickey's Philharmagic (we missed this the first day because little dude needed to go to the potty). We then headed to find Woody and Jessie, from Toy Story. The line was much shorter than before, plus we got to see Jessie too! Luke had a special day! He joined the Pirate League. He became a pirate today! :) You'll have to ask him ... read more

Hollywood Studios

We had a great time at Hollywood studios! We arrived just before it opened. Juan raced to the toy story ride to get fast passes! :) We were able to not wait in line for Star Tours, Muppets 3D. When we walked out of Muppets, we were able to be first in line to meet Phineas and Ferb and Lightning McQueen and Mater. We then headed to ride Toy Story Mania. This was both of the boys favorite ride. Right after we rode it we were able to grab another fastpass for before dinner. We had lunch a Pizza Planet. A pizza place very similiar to the one in Toy Story. Pizza and arcade. After lunch we headed back towards the front of the park and met up with my great Uncle Roy. It was nice ... read more

Animal Kingdom

Well... were to start this day. Well how about in the middle of the night calling housekeeping to collect some yucky sheets. Poor Lukers. Whatever bug he had, it is running it's course. So after being up in the middle of the night, cleaning up little dude, doing laundry, we took it easy this morning. After everyone was feeling a little better, we headed to Animal Kingdom. As Juan says, it was "Binder Park Zoo's Africa on steriods!" It was super cool. We headed straight back to the safarai ride. It was awesome!!!! WE saw all the animals, Elephants, lions, rinos, hippos, vultures, pelicans. We even had one of the rhinos stop in the middle of the rode and we had to wait for it to finally move. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day. From ... read more

Epcot

Headed to Epcot. We went in the globe, talk time with Crush, which turned out to be not good for Luke. He got sick, twice on the way out. We decided to head back to the resort. But on the way out we ran into Stitch. Ben couldn't have been more excited! It is apparently one of his favorites. Not sure where that came from, but he is in heaven. We came back to the resort for some R&R. After a shower, nap and resting we headed back for our dinner reservations. We ate at the Garden Grill. It was a character dinner with farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. This wasn't my favorite dinner. It was served family style, the boys had mac 'n cheese and chicken legs and we had a fish, turkey and ... read more

Magic Kingdom Day 1

Magic Kingdom - Day 1 We got there early, before they let you in the gate. We got to see the good morning show right in front. Ben and Luke rode their first official roller coaster, Splash Mountain. Ben was totally fearless. :) Another highlight of Magic Kingdom (MK) was the castle, especially for Ben. He definitely believes in the magic of Disney, meeting the characters. For those of you that know him, he is not as outgoing as Luke, but when it comes to the characters, he walks right up gives them a big hug, gets his autograph book signed and has a smile from here to Texas. That has been the highlight this far for me, as a mom. To see my son totally immersed in the moment. We had a great dinner at ... read more

We are HERE!!!!!!

We made it! Our resort, Disney's Polynesian Resort, is wonderful. Feels like we are in a tropical island, not at Disney World. We are in the Fiji Longhouse, right on the marina. The Volcano Pool is just across the way and we are close to the Monorail line. Couldn't have asked for a better location. 1st floor room too! We got checked-in and the boys were able to take a quick dip in the pool. It was a little chilly, (only 69 degrees this afternoon). Tonight we had reservations at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. We rode the monorail there. They boys loved that. Ben kept saying, "we are flying!" We were earlier than our reservation, and got right in. They take your picture, which yes, I got sucked into buying (hey! I got a ... read more

We told the boys. Not quite the reaction we had expected, but they are super excited. I don't think that they realize what exactly going to Disney World really means. I think they will be even more excited once we get to the airport, get on the plane, and get to the hotel. It will be fun, regardless. :) Looking forward to the sharing this time together with my family. Memories that will last a lifetime.... read more

Getting Ready!

I can't believe that we are 8 days away from our big Disney Surprise Vacation. I remember starting a countdown on my dry erase board at work when there was 160 days. I've been counting down since then. We are still undecided of when and how we are going to tell the boys. They still do not have a clue that we are going on vacation, let alone going to Disney World. I decided to start this blog to be able to share our family adventure with our family and friends. I am going to try and post a picture/video every day. I thought it would be a nice way to remember our trip in the years to come.... read more
