To be honest, I have no idea where I am right now...so you can disregard the "location" mentioned above. What I know is that I got on a bus at 6:30 PM last night...and got off of a bus with a couple of Swedish women who told me that their two star resort in Goa was nice...and that they would probably have a room I could take. They also mentioned that their resort catered to Swedes who were on a "holiday package". Well, after a second all-nighter on a bus...they could have said they were in a resort for martians...and I would most likely have followed them anywhere. Especially after one of them mentioned that she had lived in Haifa for a month during high school...and had just completed her medical residency...and the other claimed to ... read more

Hi there!!! Ni hao ma? (How are you?) Sorry for beeing so crappy with keeping you updated on my China life lately... Hope you're good! Heard the sun has started showing its pretty face lateley :) That usually makes a nice change after a dark winter! Wo hen hao! (I'm very good!) Really happy to have started stuying Chinese! Started Thursday last week, in a beginners class of 20 people in different ages, from literally all over the world - Brazil, Panama, France, Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Korea, USA, Thailand, Ukraine, Mexico... It's really cool to have such a mix, especially in a city like Guangzhou with so little Westerners - at least where I live. My place is about 30 minutes walk from Uni, which is perfect. Have also started working with my dad's ... read more

Namesde! No more namaskara im afraid we are now in the state of Tamil Nadu and so the language of Kannada is no more needed! The last couple of days have been very different to our days in Bangalore! We left Bangalore on the Staurday and headed to Mysore with Lenka, Hester and Christine. We spent longer than expected here visiting the Maharaja's palace which was designed by Henry Irwin and also went up Chamundi hill to visit a couple of temples. Alice and i wern't overly enthused about coming to Mysore but wanted to spend some time with Lenka and if we were travelling with steve it meant going to mysore. It was an enjoyable couple of days though. We slept alot catching up on some well deserved sleep after our hectic last week in ... read more

Uggh... I just wrote for at least 20 min. - and I just lost the whole thing. Sorry if the last entry was hard to follow - I was just alittle tipsy. SO I had booked an overnight train ticket from Mumbai to Madgao - planning to catch a locall bus for 2hrs. from there straigh to Gokarna. But theat's not what happened. I met a girl on the train from England (living in Australia) who didn't have a place to sleep. She had bought a general class ticket (seat only), hoping to upgrade, but the train was more than full. So she sat with me and we stayed up late talking (got hushed by the conductor a couple of times). Then she spent the rest of the night moving around trying to find a spot ... read more

After waking at 7:20am after alarms ringing since 6:30, we had 10 minutes to pack, get ready and meet yesterdays driver who had showed us around Delhi. He was going to take us to Agra, as agreed at the Tourist office. In a Mini bus. Which was actually his hatchback, white, deformed TATA . After being introduced to his cousin who randomly jumped in the car for the ride we began our 4 hour journey. This journey was like no other, in that for the majority of the time, after exiting the nose-to-bumper traffic of delhi we travelled at a constant speed of 120kmph , dodging cars, taxis, tuk tuks ,monkeys, camels, elephants, cows and goats. We stopped for a bag of breakfast bananas and mandarins and watched in amazement as the driver consumed over five ... read more

Dedicated to Jaspreet Laly - RIP!! Well, March 15th is the date of all dates in the calendar year. My humble existence began on this planet 23 years ago. Maturity is setting in hopefully, but the fun and frolicks will never end! I was not granted the presence of Balaji because of wifee commitments, yet this setback didn't deter both Navtej and I. Chola Sheraton was our destination. On entering this magnificent Hotel complex, we were both greated by a trio of spanish guitar musicians in the lobby. I could instantly feel a night of class and sophistication. We then moved on to the bar... a strategic resting point for singhs when pondering their next move. Pharangees were gathered in coalition watching the cricket, whilst Navtej ordered the first set of Kingfishers. The chique surroundings provided ... read more

Hi all, (Excuse the spelling below - hard keyboards to use, and too hard too spell check!) Just a few things before we keep going - after reading heaps of other travelblogs over the last 12 months, we always found that there was not enough information given in relation to names of places, prices etc being that we were heading overseas soon and wanted details, details, details. Therefore, in case other traveller's are reading this and are lookling for information like we were, we will include names of places, prices etc where ever possible. For those back home not travelling, I know this may be boring, useless info to you, but, oh well!! Also, there will be a lot of talk about food as those who know me will need no explaining as to why! Thursday ... read more

Thur 15th The bus stopped at it usual stops so the locals can try to sell the tourists stuff and as I came out of the toilet (the poshest one ever where you had to change your shoes for flop flops so not to make the floor dirty) I bumped into Malin and Sara (the Sweedish girls). They had got the bus all the way from Nha Trang that morning. They were travelling with a different company so I new we'd get dropped at different points on arriving at HCMC (Ho Chi Minh City) but it was good to see them. On the bus I got talking to 2 english girls Becky and Fay and once again managed to share a room with strangers me on transport!! Becky had been in Hanoi 'teaching' but all she ... read more

Brick: Time for something a bit more adventurous... how about visiting 3 volcano's, of which 2 are active and walking right up to the crater lip of one....why not! its Indonesia - the land of natural chaos! So Gunung Bromo is the place. We drive for two hours straight up the side of a mountain (actually an ancient volcano itself) in a local minivan. The minivan is how locals get from the town markets at the bottom to their various villages scattered throughout the mountain. At the start of the trip there was 24 passengers crammed into the van - a couple of blokes hanging off the side of the bus and gear packed on the roof - a classic scene straight from the movies! The drive up had amazing scenery. The rice paddy fields and ... read more
