Another quick update as we abuse the free internet on offer at our hotel......
The Cu Chi tunnels day was pretty awesome, our tour guid Thong (pronounced Thon) or 'Slim Jim' as he is apparently known, was hilarious and had a passion for cockney rhyming slang which he tested out on us!
We saw all the traps the Viet Cong used to protect their village - pretty brutal, and got to crawl through one of the tunnels. We also got to fire an AK47..... which Adam loved!! I think my hearing may never be the same again....
Tomorrow we are going to Nha Trang beach for 3 days, and then have planned a tour of the Mekong Delta which will see us dropped off in Cambodia by boat on the third day of the tour.
I am currently suffering from malnutrition due to the hit and miss nature of vietnamese food......
In the market they didnt get the concept of 'no meat' and after offering me a massive prawn thing, and a kebab, produced a bowl of cold rice with half a lettuce on top...... This was followed by dinner of 'tuna' which turned out to be some other fish altogether....... I decided to go for the 'safe option' the next night and chose spring rolls, however they were cold, made of rice paper, and contained leaves that taste of aniseed and are disgusting!!!!! Finally yesterday i ordered a 'french fried salad' which turned out to be a plate of chips.........!!! Luckily we have discovered a small cafe that sells cookies which is what i am living on.... and breakfast!!! However when you do order something good (normally a dish containing beef or pork) its generally really good, they are just hard to find!!! Am hoping for some fresh fish when we get to the Mekong!
The currency out here is ridiculous.... there are 31,762 dong to the pound..... although they sometimes decide to work in dollars just to confuse matters! and if you do pay in dollars they may choose to give you your change in dong!!! I feel quite rich though as we carry around about a million dong!!!
Right... i shall attempt to upload some pics at some point!!!
Loads of love xxxxxxx
