The good time last night had left us a little tired this morning. We had to get up early to pack and get ready for the bus trip to Hoi An. We never learn! Anyway...

It was drizzling slightly and the small bus was packed. We got on last so we couldn't sit together. Luckily it turned out not to be a long trip. Soon we were at a bus "terminal" where we transferred to a big bus where we could sit together and recline our seats for the three hour drive to Hoi An.

We saw some beautiful countryside and drove through a very long (must've been about 5km) tunnel. Talita saw the ocean first so she gets an ice-cream. We had a quick stop in Da Nang. This is the city where the US first landed when they invaded Vietnam.

We arrived in Hoi An just before lunch and got a really nice room in a hotel with a pool and wi-fi. After dropping off our stuff we popped out for lunch cause we were both starving, then walked around town. Hoi An is a gorgeous little town 3km from the coast. There's

tons of stalls and shops selling everything. We bought a set of beautiful chopsticks each (we'd gotten so used to eating with them it's actually hard to use a knife and fork).

Talita has had her eye on sandals for a while now, but none of the ones she likes fits her. Today we found a lady who will custom make the sandals to fit her perfectly. Talita has gotten real good at haggling. We have a running joke: don't trust old ladies, disabled people and children. If someone gives you a price, kick them in the shin, hit their wind out and start negotiating at half the price :-)

Anyway... We'll pick up the sandals tomorrow.

We walked around town and had dinner at a romantic little restaurant. We had fresh beer (a manual draught tap from a huge keg) and Hoi An's local dishes, Cao Lao and a DIY pancake with peanut sauce. It was delicious!

Today's highlights:
1. Got to Hoi An safely.
2. Found a nice hotel with a pool.
3. Enjoyed local cuisine.
