Well, obviously the title only works if you sing it to the tune of Follow the Yellow Brick Road! Oh and yes the title was thought up by Chris! (Robin Williams would be proud!)
Just spent an amazing four days touring Vietnam, including parts of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, on a....wait for it....not a bus...not a train...not by foot (well sometimes)...but by Motorbike!!! (Sorry parents!)
After deciding we wanted to do a tour with a difference we were pleasantly suprised when we were approached by a tout for a company called Easy Riders who specialised in motorbike tours of "the real Vietnam." After parting with yet more cash (a significant sum!!) we mounted our metalic steeds and hit the road, some harder than others!! Yes thats right Taz managed to fall off her bike when it was stationary!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha!
On the first day we headed out of Nha Trang and rode a butt shattering 250 km to Buon Ma Thout, a town in the Central Highlands. Along the way we stopped off at various points to see the locals at work; in Lobster Farms, Fish Farms, Brick making and were even
put to work in a rice field!
On day two we started at a waterfall and then finished at an Ethinc Minority Tribe Village where we stayed in a traditional Long House and took part in their singing and dancing. Chris did ask if they did requests, but thankfully the Chief didnt know Yellow Submarine!
Day three began with another bloody elephant trek, far more terrifying than the others as this involved crossing a large muddy lake, which seemed to go on and on and on and on, just to complete the experience, jumbo lost his footing and once again Taz's life flashed before her eyes! Chris being the 'sensible' one decided that given past Elephant rides, staying in the local village and chasing piglets was a much safer option!
The remainder of day three took us up the snake road through the hills and along the former Ho Chi Minh trail to Dalat, stopping along the way to see how Vietnamese silk is made and woven starting with the silk worms and following the whole process - yawn!
so day four then, we came back to Nha Trang, thats all we're going to say coz
A waterfall...I had a really funny comment for this photo....but Taz thought it was lame...so you'll have to think up your own, I'm sorry...blame Taz!!!!!
thats all we did! Seriously though it was a great tour and the Vietnamese food we stuffed our faces with was top notch infact it was worth doing the tour just for the Spring rolls and Snake Wine!! Oh and the scenery is bloody stunning!
We're now in Hoi An, which is probably the nicest town we have stayed in so far (infact it has been suggested that the town is better than Pattaya!). Its lovely and sleepy and has shops to die for (handmade shoes for 3 pounds, not to mention the bags and dresses - Chris is in his element!!). Just finished a Vietnamese cookery class today and the food was, even if we say it ourseles, bloody good!
Catching an early morning FIRST CLASS flight tommorow to Hanoi because there weren't any economy seats left! Check us!!
Hope you are all well xx
Highway 27Or as it was formaly known 'The Ho Chi Minh Trail' - we found it! And we weren't even looking for it...1 up on America!!Okay, so the trail was covered by dense forest and not tarmac and it was only us
... [more]
Chris and TzangAs you can tell from Tzang's expression he was very happy to drive the village idiot around for four days!!
Sowing the seeds of love..Laura proudly wearing the flowers her driver and one true love, Buon, gave her. Let me hear you say "awwwwww!"

Send Private MessageSo when are we coming round for dinner? Cookery classes ooh! First Class ooh! I bet that snake wine has a bite and I don't know about the hangover. I hope you say "Fangs very much, mines a double!" Sorry but hearing you have attached my son to a vietnames msn pal called Phuc with an id along the lines of tranny, I feel slightly concerned. Hopefully your toilet was above the waterfall! You get arrested for singing follow follow up here! (Rangers song) Looking forward to spring rolls. take care xx
.......... the images of Taz as a young innocent bairn (ok, I know but work with me here), standing in Heavitree park, in the open, with her eyes covered by her hands playing hide and seek, ahhh, the innocence of a child, or plain stupidity! Which brings me to the second point, which may be a bit close to the mark for a relative, but after a few glasses of wine, but did Taz complain to the Easy Riders about the fact that Chris' helmet appeared to be a bit on the large side, but then you know what they say about asian men! I note as well the look on Laura's face, I've never seen that from flowers alone, but then this is only a head and shoulders shot!?!? Too much wine? What's with all the stars on t-shirts as well, you lot going native? And the toilet break photo, were the hands in the air so they knew which one to hold when helping you out of the water? And as for the waterfall pic, it's only cause taz didn't think of it first, she's been like that for years, so jealous! Have fun! Speak soon....
With reference to a message posted by 'Auntie T' on the 12th April quoting "That kid in the tub looks a lot like a picture of you Tash as a baby in your bath, perhaps your mum could post the picture on the net to compare it".
I Robert Burrell, Natasha's father, wish it to be known that I have never visited and subsequently fathered a child in Angkor. Any paternity suits or begging letters for maintanance will be passed to my solicitor for immediate incineration.
However If the mother ever visited Exeter in recent years, or met me whilst on holiday elsewhere, and took advantage of me using a date rape drug or alcohol then a cheque is in the post.
If i ever find out who this malicious 'Auntie T' ghostwriter is i will send the boys around. And they are big boys Teresa so beware!!!
