Snake Restaurant

Warning.... this blog is not for the squeamish

Okay, so I had heard about a "snake restaurant" before I had came here and thought it would be cool to do, but never really looked into it.

But a bunch of people from the hostel here announced they were going to the snake restaraunt tonight so I thought I would join in.

So we drove for about half an hour from the center and we were taken to a restaurant surounded by water. We sat down, then they brought out the snake, it was probably about 5 or 6 feet long and it was angry, it bit the man who was holding it a few times. Then they restrained it and grabbed its head, they let us get a good look at it.... then they pulled out the scissors, they stuck them in right around where the heart was and pulled out the still beating heart. I couldnt help but feel a bit guilty about it since I am an animal lover but it was going to happen regardless. All the guys wanted to try it so we all picked a number between 1 and 6, sadly my number wasnt right so I never got to try the beating heart of a snake... maybe one day. But what I did get to try in that next hour was certainly interesting..... a shot of snake blood, a shot of snake bile, liqour that was fermenting in snake penis, snake skin, pretty much every part of the snake you can imagine I tried. It wasnt the most tasty thing in the world, but it also wasn't the worst thing I've tried. A once in a life time experience.

Anyways....
I'm off to Halong bay tomorrow for 3 days 2 nights, should be a good trip, but my camera isn't behaving so we will see about pictures....
