I'm downslope, looking for parts to flag on the surface.
Xin chào, one of the few Vietnamese phrases I learned during my time there, is a general greeting such as "hello." From our drop off point to our site, we passed through part of a village with many children who would greet us with this phrase, though later on they learned to say hello or aloha.

Our site was on the side of a small mountain, and we had a relatively short hike through a village to reach it. Due to regulations of the organization I'm employed with, I can't post certain photos, so the only photos I can show you are posted here. We ended up closing our site a few days early, and got to spend them in Hanoi which was super nice. We had Thanksgiving there, and they arranged for more traditional items to be served, and it was actually pretty good!

More posts to come, as I am on my way out of Bangkok in the morning to head back to Hawaii early tomorrow morning.

The Vietnamese officials had silkworms for lunch that day, so we tried them. I would not recommend them...

This was taken on our way out one day in the van ride home. It's hard to see, but it's about half way up the mountain on the left in the back of the photo.

There were lots of local kids in the village we walked through, and they were usually super excited to say hello to us. These little guys are playing with their tire and stick, one of the only toys I saw them with.
