We had another early start yesterday! Went on a tour of Wat Po ( the reclinging Buddha) and went to the Marble temple. It was all soo pretty, definately worth a visit. We stupidly booked a tour at the airport for 300 Baht each so whilst we did get to see these amazing places, we felt rushed and for half of the morning we had to trapse around government supported emporiums selling everything from wooden carvings, fish skin bags to hand made suits. All overly expensive of course and now room to bargain- it was such a bore!
We can back had a rest, then went to have a few treatments at the beauty parlour for less than 4 pounds- heaven! Of course no day would be complete without us embarking on a 'short walk' which you should know by now is never short with us! We intented to walk to the pier and catch a boat back up to near Khao San Road but we were walking for about an hour and a half- good thing it was still light outside. Well we eventually did find it and caught a passenger ferry up the river- it was worth it
in the end.
We went to the famous floating market- it was soo funny- coundlt beleive that we were acutally there- it was just how we imagined it would be- took some lovely photos- they look like they could go in a guidebook- Lonely Planet/Rough guides - any offers welcome!
Today we went to see the tigers at a nature reserve near the River Kwai- I actually touched a tiger- can you believe it- pictures to follow! They had just eaten so we were alright, but I was still really scared, there were about 8 tigers and we also saw 4 cubs- they were soo cute!!! We also saw peacocks, deer and beautiful cocks- though we were a bit apprehensive of getting close enough to take a picture. We also spoke to our first monk- very enlightening!
Tomorrow is our shopping day- the weekend market is on and it is meant for locals so it is extra cheap - can you imagine how much we are gonna shop???!!!!!!!!!!!
