RayongRayong is a big fishing town
Well, we left Bangkok bound for Rayong on the eastern coast of thailand, this was to be a stopgap on our way through to the island of Ko Samet. Arriving in Rayong was a nice change from the smelly madness of Bangkok. Bus ticket cost all of about 1 pound 20 and included air-con, films, food and water. Not bad for a three hour journey!!! France and myself grabbed some sleep.
Rayong is a sleepy fishing town but had a great market and a few shops. Cant really eat noodles again so opted for a stomach churning maccy d's instead. Im telling you the Big Macs over here are perfect, nothing like back home!
Stayed over at the cheap wing of the luxury Star Hotel. The main reception couldnt believe we asked for the cheap rooms and kind of turned their noses up. Not a good start!! Turns out that the room was quite spacious and best of all clean. Had a reall good nights sleep and even had access to BBC world where we found out about earthquake. Terrible.
IN the morning we headed back to the bus station to jump on board a pick up truck to Ban Phi,
the port where we could board the boat to Ko Samet. We were bundled into the truck and flew off at speed. Met two Ozzie fellas, Stuart and Dave who are headed exactly where we are so linked up with them. We were on our way!!
